If it has no serial number, it is definitely before 1968. As of 1968, the Gun Control Act required serial numbers.

These guns were made on contract usually by Stevens, but sometimes by other companies. After 1968, the serial number can be compared to online archives, however, records aren't exact and it can be hard to narrow it down beyond a range of several years.

If you search online, you can probably find a similar gun on an auction site, fan site or interest site to compare to. Similar shapes and finishes were used in blocks over several years, and that will help narrow it down.

It drpends on the condition, age, model number, bore and other items. It's difficult to judge without seeing it. There are a few internet auction sites you may search to get an idea. The internet is always a good place to start. If you can find anything, call a local gunsmith in Yellow Pages. They are often willing to help for free. 410 models are small and generally worth less than larger gauges. Double barrels arr worth more than single. Models from the 1940's and '50's were cheap guns. Selling for $60 to $80, today it should be worth at least $100 if it fires and maybe upto $350... good luck.

No. Not worthless, but not high $$$ guns either. These were utility grade shotguns, made for hunters, young shooters, etc. But nice reliable, durable guns all the same.

Generally, you can fire any ammunition that's 3" or shorter (fired length) in a 3" chamber shotgun. however, a 2 1/4 inch shell may not be handled by the action of a pump, autoloader or bolt action gun.

The letters MOD1911S.L. stand for Winchester model 1911 self loading shotgun.these shotguns were made by Winchester from 1911-1921.they were recoil operated,with either a 26in or 28in barrel.pistol grip laminated birch stock.I may add that some production was done from 1921-1928 also.There were 103,246 made.The old nickname for this shotgun was the headbuster,due to some design problems with the action.I hope this helps.

Most hold ammo in tube under the barrel. Make sure firearm is empty then unscrew the end cap on tube/magazine. Plug should be there.

There may not BE a serial number. SNs were not required by law on rifles and shotguns prior to the 1968 Gun Control Act. I have several from the 1940s and 50s in my collection that were never serialized- and yes, it is perfectly legal to own one.

Assuming the gun is cocked, loaded, and the safety is off- Pulling the trigger moves the sear, which allows the hammer to be driven froward by a spring. It strikes the firing pin, driving the firing pin forward. This dents the primer of the shotshell, causing it to fire. The fire ignites the gunpowder, which burns quickly. Burning powder produces rapidly expanding gasses, which push the shot cup (holding lead pellets) up and out of the barrel. At the same time, the reaction to that pushes the shotgun back against your shoulder (kick of the gun)

Yo may not be able to- there was a safety recall of about 7 of the different 12 g bolt action shotguns. Sears is trading the bolts for a $50 gift card. Sear for Sears Shotgun Recall.

That will depend on whether the choke tube is rated for steel shot or not.
