Remington firearms are dated from a 2 or 3 LETTER code stamped on the left side of the barrel, very close to the frame. The Remington Collector Society webpage has the table of letters and years.

First, ensure that it is not loaded.

The wooden stock and forearm can be cleaned with a soft cloth, and any good quality furniture cleaner/ wax.

The metal parts are best "restored" with a clean soft cloth, light oil, and a LOT of rubbing. Do NOT use steel wool or similar abrasive materials. If it is rusty (not just an even brown color, but rusty) and the cloth and oil are not enough, find a COPPER Chore-boy pot scrubber at the grocer. Wet it with light oil, rub gently, followed by rubdown with soft cloth and oil. Be sure to wipe excess oil off before storing it.

Westernfield was a brand name used on guns sold by Montgomery Ward stores- and made by gun makers such as Remington, Mossberg, High Standard, etc. We cannot tell the model from a serial number, and cannot tell the age except in general terms.

The "crown" of any firearm is the front end of the barrel- the muzzle. It refers to a rounded shape of the end of the barrel.

In most states, yes (check YOUR state game laws through the game commission website) HOWEVER- I would not recommend it. The load of shot, or the energy of a .410 slug, is simply too small to reliably and cleanly kill a deer. It is more likely to wound a deer that will die in a day or two.

These were made many years ago, and may not HAVE a serial number. Serial numbers were not required by law on rifles and shotguns until 1968. Yes, it is perfectly legal to own a firearm that never HAD a serial number IF the law did not require it at the time the gun was made. It is illegal to remove any serial number from a firearm, or to possess one that has had the SN removed.

The bore refers to the hole in the gun barrel thru which the projectile (bullet) passes. Some guns have a smooth bore, but many modern guns, both pistols and especially rifles, have a rifled bore, that is, the bore has a helical (spiral) groove that causes the projectile to spin as it flies thru the air. The diameter of the gun's bore determines the size of the bullet or shell (e.g. .22, .45, 9mm, etc.)

Shotguns fire shells with many small pellets- or shot. The shot string is a 3 dimensional view of the shot in flight. When bird hunting with a shotgun, your goal is to have the shot string intersect the bird in flight.

Boito was an inexpensive line of shotguns made in Brazil in the early 1970s. Value is probably in the $150-$175 range, depending on condition. These were typically sold through K-mart, G.C. Murphy department stores, etc.

It's called a choke, and restricts the bore a few hundredths of an inch. Most are round, for hunting, but there are some called "duckbills" that spread the shot laterally for combat purposes, though they're not popular anymore because they didn't offer a significant advantage. There are fixed chokes, permanently part of the barrel. There are adjustable chokes, which turn to constrict. There are removable chokes, which set in place with a wrench.

Rifled slugs. Sabot slugs will not be as accurate- hose are meant for rifled barrels.
