These were built by J. Stevens company for Sears and other stores. They're quite common. Depending on condition, that specific bore and brand typically sell for $250-$400 in 2012.

You use the choke tube which is appropriate to the use of the shotgun.

Choke tubes are short sections of tube which screws into the muzzle end of the shotgun barrel. Different tubes hve different amounts of constriction (full, modified, improved, cylinder bore, etc). The tighter the constriction, the more the shot column is kept together and thus the more dense the shot column. This keeps the column together longer as it flies down range and thus will put more pellets into the target. Tighter shot column also means that the pattern doesn't spread out as much and thus it's harder to hit a given target.

These were made many years ago, and may not HAVE a serial number. Serial numbers were not required by law on rifles and shotguns until 1968. Yes, it is perfectly legal to own a firearm that never HAD a serial number IF the law did not require it at the time the gun was made. It is illegal to remove any serial number from a firearm, or to possess one that has had the SN removed.

I can say that these shotguns were made in Eibar Spain.They were also imported into England and finished there by gunsmiths also.they were imported and distributed by SAE(Spanish America Enterprises)Inc located in Miami,Florida.

It will depend on model number, year of manufacture and condition. Parker is one of the better brands, so it would be worth checking with more than one seller or collector to get an idea of its worth. Always ask at least two sources, to be sure you get a fair estimate.

Keep in mind there were also inexpensive copies of Parker with similar markings such as "T. Parker" and "D. Parker", that are worth very little.

When hunting, most states will require that a shotgun not be able to hold more than 3 shells- the plug blocks the magazine to limit how many shells. When not hunting, the plug is not required. It IS required when hunting any migratory bird- such as ducks, geese or dove.
