Union began as the Colton Manufacturing Company in 1893 in Toledo, Ohio. The name was changed to Union Fire Arms in 1905. They were bought out by Toledo Arms in 1913, and in 1916, Toledo Arms was bought by Savage. They made predominantly shotguns. You can probably assume yours was made between 1905 and 1913. DO NOTfire modern shotgun ammunition in it unless it has been inspected by a competent gunsmith first. It may bring a good price from a collector, if you want to sell it.

In short, it is a barrel designed to fire slugs. Some are smooth bore which are intended to shoot rifled slugs or buckshot, while others are rifled and intended for shooting sabot slugs only.

If that date is Apr 20, 1915, the gun is a J. Stevens Arms Co Model 311 hammerless.

There is no restriction on barrel length but the overall length of the firearm must be 26.5 in or greater

Kirk Gun Co. was a trademark of Farwell, Ozmun, and Kirk. Inc, a hardware dealer in St. Paul, Minnesota. They made guns from roughly 1911 to just after World War II, best as I can determine. The weapon is a typical "hardware store gun", an it's intrinsic value is not high, made even less so by being a single shot. To collectors, though, it might be an addition to their collection that's they'd happily pay some bucks for.

Probably not a lot. There are manufacturer's names in firearms that make heads bow - Montgomery Wards is not one of them. They didn't make it, of course, there was no "Montgomery Wards Firearms Factory", they were made for Wards by one of the big manufacturers, most likely Savage, but if it's a really top-end one, possibly Parker. In the end, it is worth what you can get for it.

You could be referring to anything from shotguns to steel plate, but I'll take a wild guess you are referring to wire gauge. 10 gauge wire is thicker than 12 gauge. If you were referring to something other than wire, write again and tell us what you are referring to.

You cannot legally buy them from retailers, as far as I know, but I designed and built mine for around $2,700 total. This includes one fully-automatic AA-12, one magazine, and a set of iron sights I attached to the gun. It was a really fun project I did throughout last summer and I'd recommend it if you are willing to spend around $3,000 and about 200 hours of work to design it and build it.

Contrary to the YouTube videos, it is NOT a Russian machine-shotgun, but was originally developed in Tennessee, USA, and is now owned by MPS, Inc. Since June 19, 1986, you cannot legally build machine guns in the United States to enter civilian markets, nor can you import machine guns made after this date to the United States for consumer use (both of these clauses do not apply to military or government contracts). The Atchisson Automatic 12-gauge, or AA-12, originally fired on the open-bolt, at a sustained rate of 300-rounds per minute. The MSRP on this weapon, when sellable, was $700. There are only 22 known to still exist, and it is doubtful that you will find one for sale now.
