hi my name is Sam i am twelve my grandma just gave me that gun.i don't really know whats its worth but i have one also it has w Richards right behind the hammers. it is a double barrel. under the barrels is a circle and in side that is an A under the A still in the circle is a l and a G under the L and the G is a star. then above that was a what looks like a upside down T. then above that is a N there is a star above the N. on the other side there is a D and what looks like a dot. dose any one know what this is please help........ thank u sam

Can't tell exactly- the Mossberg 385 bolt action shotgun was made from 1964-1983. After 83, it was made as the 385 K-A, and at an unknown later time, model changed to 385 K-B. In any event, a fairly recent manufacture.

As with any shotgun firing shotshells, you're only going to have an effective range of about 100 metres. Shotguns are very close range weapons.

The Greener Mk III Police Gun was a single shot Martini action shotgun, made in a unique guage- a tapered 14 g, with grooves in the head of the shotshell for pins in the action to fit into. These are somewhat scarce, and have frequently been rebarreled to 12 g. Value will depend on condition and originality, but seem to average $400-$500. There is also a Greener GRADE 3, side by side shotgun, and value of these is MUCH higher. As with ANY gun, value is driven by condition and originality.

Depends on which model and condition. There were only about 6000 made. The most desirable is the folding riot gun model. A real minty version could go for up to $6000. A folder in good working order but only average condition might be a a $2500 - $3000 gun. I've seen standard models go from $1000 to $3300 depending on condition. They are really neat guns, I have 3.

It all depends on the type and condition of the gun. An FN made 1970's Browning 25 in excellent condition will put you back several thousands while some of the cheap 19th century shotguns that flooded the lower end of the UK market are basically worth a little bit more than scrap value.

The crown is the proof stamp from the Birmingham proof house. All guns made in or imported to the UK were submitted for proof testing in either Birmingham or London. The stamp will have letters underneath it................'BV' denotes the 'viewing' mark, stamped while the barrels were in the white, before finishing. 'MP' denotes the definitive proof mark. These were applied to guns proved from 1904 to 1950, after which the crown was stamped atop 'NP'
