If a snail is dormant then that is part of its natural cycle, just like some bears hibernate. So you shouldn't revive it. When it is ready to wake up, then it will. If it starts to smell, then it's not dormant and you should add it to your compost bin. If I think something dangerous has happened to mine, I run it under lukewarm water.

What a thoughtful question! Snails are hatched from eggs. When they hatch, they eat most of the shell, but a small part of it stays with them and that is the beginning of their shell. As the snail grows, so does its shell -- in a spiral shape. New shell is added at the opening of the shell. In the center of the spiral is the part of the shell that the snail began life with. The shell is made from several layers. The thin outer layer is made from an organic substance known as conchiolin. The thicker layer underneath is formed from three layers of crystalline calcium carbonate, similar to the chicken egg of which you may be more familiar. The color of the shell depends on the types of food the snail is eating and also the type of snail. Snails can live live from 5-10 years. I thought that was pretty amazing! The oldest snail known lived to be 15 years old. Snails are usually considered to be pests. But snails are also very beautiful and fun to watch. Slugs are shell-less snails and eat plants as well. To tell the difference between a slug and a snail track, look to see if the slime trail is a continuous trail; if so, then it is slug. If the trail has breaks in it, it's a snail.

I have owned 16 pet snails and i have found that numnum, poky and pongo are the most unusual snail names. Also Gipler Trail mix and Fluffy are uncommon.

give it lots and lots of grass, lettuce, and leafy greens. make sure that it is in a moist environment like by maybe putting a wet sponge somewhere in the box. oh and give it water!
How do you look after a garden snail - what do they eat where do they live and where do i keep them?
- First, you need to buy or find a container around 30cm wide and 20cm long.
- Then, you need to chuck some grass, flowers, mud and leaves in.( Also a stick so the snails can play).
- Then place in some lettuce or cabbage for their food and also some cucumber or tomato as a treat.
- Clean your snails often with a toothbrush or a tissue very very softly, as this can damage their shells. DO NOT BRUSH THEIR SKIN, AS THEY LOVE IT TO BE DIRTY.
- Make sure the snails have a damp tissue so they can drink also a small container full of water, not too deep so the snails can bathe.
- Oh, remember the container MUST have air holes due to the fact they wont be able to breath.
also they can have up to 2,000 eggs

No it is not essential but it is quite important if your house is not warm.
If you do not buy a heater and you have a central heated house you will find that the temperature will drop at night and the snail will become less active and then hibernate if your snail dose do this in the spring you will need to pick up your snail and scrape the hard cap of the bottom of the snail and then you will have to wet him with some warm water then he will come out. (when scraping the cap of the bottom of the snail be sure to use your fumand do that genitally).

Hi :) Snails live up to 15 years not 2 years.They love dirt so you may put them in dirt or sand.They eat fruits and vegetables (salad the most) They love to be in rain so let them out in rainy days and give them water to drink :) They need at least a 5-10 gallon tank :) Give them at least 1 plant too (a fake one is fine) Hope this helped
