How do you disassemble a 5904 smith and Wesson 9mm?
I'm not sure how detailed you would like it to be, but here are simple field stripping instrutions:
1. Make sure magazine has been ejected and the chamber is clear.
2. Locate the slide stop pin (the part that allows for locking/unlocking slide).
3. Line up the slide with the frame.
5. Push the slide stop pin using finger.
6. Once pushed as far as possible, pull pin out with other hand, as to not allow pressure on the pin, and slowly release pressure on the slide.
7. Pull off slide and place frame aside.
8. Push recoil spring inward and pull up at an angle as to releave the tension on the barrel.
9. Remove spring and place it aside.
10. Push barrel towards the front of the slide, then pull up at an angle.
11. Re-assembly is done in the reverse order.
For a more in depth and full disassembly, visit Smith and Wesson, all manuals should be available. If full disassembly is required; it would be wise to take the pistol to a professional gunsmith.
Hope this helps!

What does the -3 stand for in the name Smith and Wesson model 14 38 special?
You have a Smith and Wesson model 14 38 special. The 38 refers to the diameter of the barrel. That barrel is 38/100 of an inch in diameter. A 45 automatic has a barrel that is 45/100 of an inch in diameter. A 9mm has a barrel with a 9mm diameter. You can shoot 9mm ammunition from a 38 special. A 22 pistol has a small diameter barrel.
Why is a 38 special called that if its actually 357?
Your gun is a 357 and can shoot both 357 ammo and 38 special ammo. The nice thing about these guns is you can practice at the range with 38S bullets, which are much cheaper, and save the 357 ammo for home defense.
Is there a Smith and Wesson bad review model 620?
The S&W mod 620 (stainless steel, adjustable sight .357 Mag revolver) is built on the S&W "L" frame. It is a 7 shot revolver which has a two piece barrel similar to the Dan Wesson design. I am sure that someone has written a bad review on the gun since some writers are paid to write bad reviews, but I know of nothing bad about the gun.
