It is an extra outfielder. Normally, you assign a "right-center" and "left-center", but some teams use a "rover" that plays 10-20 feet outside the infield on the "pull" side of the hitter. For example, a deep short stop for a right handed batter. In my estimation, a shortfielder makes softball, as its name implies, soft. Why should it require 10 "men" to do job that 9 do in baseball when a hardball is hit much farther and harder than a softball? There's also the fact that a hardball field (when enclosed by a fence) is usually larger with wider gaps in the outfield than a softball field. The answer to MY question is obvious; softball is usually played by slower, older and less capable athletes, Eddie Fayner, or however you spell his name, not withstanding.

the 3rd baseman would only catch the ball in his/her left hand if they are right handed. The proper posision would be for the baseman to put his/her right foot on the edge of the base facing 2nd.

If the runner was not on the base at the time when the pitcher entered the pitching circle they can still steal a base. The runner has a certain amount of time to decide to either steal or return to their original base once the pitcher is in the circle. They cannot rock though, or pretend to go either way and then go the other. Once they commit to one direction they have to go that direction, unless the ball leaves the pitcher's circle again.

I would consider it a hit/bunt. It is a sacrifice bunt if the bunter knows they will get out so another runner can advance or get a run. Hope this kind of helps
