Can the PS4 play PS2 and PS3 games?
According to sources, the Playstation 4 is not backwards compatible. In other words, it cannot play PS3 or PS2 games in either physical format or downloadable format.

*The "open tray" button would be similar to a Xbox 360 one, touch activated.
*There would be no contoller outlets, because they would all be wireless.
*The 3D button (Oh Ya!) would be on the top right, with a futuristic TV on it.

*It would be available in blue, black, red, or green and skins would produce holograms.

Unfortunately the new PS4 will not be able to play any games that were available on the previous PS2 or PS3 consoles. However, Sony has stated that they hope to be able to offer this ability sometime in the near future.
Why? Well, essentially, Sony wanted to compete with Microsoft. Video Games are big business, and Sony wanted to make money on selling the consoles.
Spec wise, the Ps3 has six cpu cores, which is very powerful. It also has a very good video card, but little Video RAM.
The Xbox 360, meanwhile, has advantages in other areas, but can't play blue-ray disks , and it doesn't have six cores. (I believe it has 2, but I may be wrong.)

The PS3 was released in 2006 and the PS4 is an unannounced possible name for the next Sony console. How can someone describe differences between a current product and a future describable product. Some say the PS4 will have solid state harddrive, some say the PS4 will have better wired 100 Gigabit internet speeds and also have phone or 802.11n WiFi capabilities. Some say Holographic Disc (HVD) instead of Blu-ray. They have been making claims for years forecasting bigger and better VRAM and System RAM, Connection, controllers, Audio, and Display, but the earliest release date will be late 2013 for any new Sony console. That will only be if it is announced over the summer of 2012 The forecast availability of the PS4 is put out as December 31 2013 by retailers and an official Sony release date has not been make even though Sony USA is offering it for the December 31 2013 delivery at it's online store. The ads do not say the size harddrive or whether a solid state is available, but they do say they will use a read only Optical Drive of BD 6xCAV and DVD 8xCAV
