Playstation 4 controllers are more comfortable in my opinion, but Xbox does have some advantages. If you are on a budget than Xbox is the way. But to be honest this is more of an opinion, some people like Xbox some people like Playstation 4.

The PS3 slim can is good but it depends on what kind of person you are. If your a nerd like myself that loves awesome graphics (with hd) then you might not like it cause there no hdmi. if you play video games quite a bit but are satisfied with the original ps3s graphics then i would go with that because it can do more that the slim. like play ps2 games and stuff like that so if i had to make a descision then i would go with the bulk

In short, no. Sony haven't released any information regarding a PS4 yet, so we can only assume that you cannot. It is highly likely you will be able to play PS3 games on it, that is - if it really comes out.

Making a emulation program for the PS2 still does not work on every game or without considerable effort 11 years after the PS2s release. The PS3 is a much more difficult system to develop emulation for and might not be done for 20 years so the PS4 would not be able to have even the Partially software based emulation used on the PS3 for the PS2 games

A ten year lifespan means the console will be supported for 10 years, not that a new console will come out in 10 years. Sony supported the ps1 for 10 years, but released the ps2 6 years after the ps1. Same with the ps2, they supported for 10 years, but released ps3 6 years after ps2.

The PS1 came out in 1995, PS2 2000 and the PS3 was launched in 2006. So it follows a almost 6 year time line, so maybe the ps4 will come out in 2012. Not that far off so begin saving your money.

The main difference in the PS3 is that software updates add new features like 3D HDTV, the third party vendors with Sports Programming, Media Downloads of both Movies and Music The whole set of new apps, and then there is the new Playstation Move Technology. The PS3 today offers much more than it did when first released. There is also Playstation Plus and the Playstation Home beta. The PS4 or whatever it is named will not be released in time for the 2013 Holiday season and definitely not any earlier. The trend also seems to be in changing the names of the new Playstation releases and it is unlikely for it to be marketed named as the PS4
