Either you get asked by the members,
or you ask the president of AKP in your town.
Then you have to go through a whole ritual...
get ready for some pain... you get paddled...
so many times you cant even count.
good luck
Herman Cain attempted to join Omega Psi Phi in 1966 and 67. However, he could not complete the initiation process. Mr.Cain then showed interest in Alpha Phi Alpha, but never actively pursued membership.
many state colleges have sororities however, any institutions that have religious affiliation generally do not have sororities. there are a few kinds of sororities. social sororities belong to the National Panhellenic Council and there are historically minority sororities-you do not have to be a minority to be in them and they operate under a different council. some colleges and universities have service sororities like Gamma Sigma Sigma and professional faternities (males and females can join) which have to do with a particular field or major. also, some sororities are "associated" with denominations - ex. Alpha Epsilon Phi (AEPhi) and Chi Omega (ChiO). AEPhi is considered a Jewish sorority but many members are in fact not Jewish and ChiO is considered a catholic sorority but again, members come from all religious backgrounds. Whatever college or university you apply to or are looking to attend, ask about greek like or even go onto the schools website and search "greek life." many schools have links to individual sorority pages or to the national website. it is a good way to see the principles and foundations of the sorority. also, the website of the chapter at the colleges are helpful too! they usual have pictures of the sisters at their events, news updates, events, and list of members and the exec board. the national panhellenic website is also helpful, they list that are apart of the council and the colleges where they are established.
they don't offer fraternities or sororities at Liberty, unfortunately
Sororities are a college women's social organization and a fraternities are men's social organizations. Some have residences and some don't. It is a very selective process for members and potential members going thorough recruitment. Soroties are a girl's dorm, and fraternities area boy's dorm.
The meanings of the colors and symbols associated with Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated are only known by duly initiated members of the organization. The dove and the "royal blue and pure" white have secret meanings.
The sororities and fraternities at UCLA change a lot! Many are gone each year and reestablish later. Many fraternities loose their recognition overnight due to a bad situation and their National pulls their charter. At this time the fraternities present are Sigma Nu, SAE, Sigma Chi ZBT, Pi Kappa Alpha, Delta Tau Delta, Beta Theta Pi, and Phi Psi. Tomorrow it may be a different situation.
The sororities are more stable and have defined tiers. At this time the sororities are:
Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta, Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma, Kappa Delta, Kappa kappa Gamma, Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, and Delta Delta Delta. AEPhi, AXO, and Gamma Phi Beta have come and gone and come again.
The college that Alpha Phi Alpha was founded at was Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Alpha Phi Alpha was created by seven men who wanted a bond of Brotherhood of African Americans in the United States.
Its a normal handshake with the middle finger curled in. When the other person does it too, you middle fingers meet in a seonc handshake between your hands. The you both cover the secret handshake with the left hand. Its kind of like seeing old men shake hands, but secretly their middle fingers are meeting.
Once, one girl went to the restroom to discharge her bowels, however left the seat up as she grew up on a farm without any seats and so was used to having no seat at all. Once in every full moon, the seat would be left up and if girls of the sorority would see this, they would keep an oath to never speak of such evil ever again. That is the secret and I hope you take it wisely not to share this.
