There are a number of squashes from Asian seed companies that are pear shaped although they usually describe it as Papaya. Fairy ( Known-You Seeds ( Taiwan) vended by Territorial, Kitazawa in the USA fits your description fairly well. Phoenix from the same company is lighter green with less pronounced stripes. There is also a Papaya Sweet but it is more of a purple color as is Papaya Golden. ( Evergreen Seeds)

Does a cross pollination of a gourd and a squash create an edible squash?
Most gourds that I am familiar with are from a different genus - Lagenaria. In that case they will not cross with each other. Some decorative gourds are in the genus Cucurbita and will cross. The result may then not be very edible if the gourd dominates. You will get a mixture. If they are edible, it would be when the fruit are very small.

Spaghetti squash is relatively low in starch compared to traditional grains and other high-starch vegetables. While it does contain some carbohydrates, its starch content is minimal, making it a popular low-carb alternative for those seeking healthier pasta substitutes. The texture of cooked spaghetti squash resembles that of pasta, which is why it's often used in similar dishes.
Do you peel squash when using it in soup?
I always peel squash before adding it to soup. Squash tend to disintegrate when cooked in soup and so it is probably best to liquidise the soup post-cooking. Liquidising skin of vegetables is not advisable because it will result in small harder bits in the soup (not nice!). An excellent way to add flavour to soup is to roast the squash in the oven first. Because of its tendancy to disintegrate I would suggest doing this with the skin on. Then before adding the roasted squash to the soup peel off the skin. A good recipe for squash soup is:- # Chop 1 onion and cook until softened in a little butter. # Peel and Dice 1 squash. Add to the pan and place a lid on the pan. Steam the squash for 20 minutes until slightly softened. # Add 1 can of sweetcorn kernels. (not creamed) Add 1500ml of Stock made with Swiss Bouillon powder. Cook for another 30 minutes. Blend. # Serve with a little milk. I always peel squash before adding it to soup. Squash tend to disintegrate when cooked in soup and so it is probably best to liquidise the soup post-cooking.
