Just curious why you would separate teams such as the Montreal shamrocks and the Montreal victorias from the Montreal canadians? You seem to be including the Toronto st. pats, and Toronto arenas, and Toronto blueshirts with your total of 13 for the Toronto maple leafs .. since the nhl became a league and had the Stanley cup as its trophy starting in 1926, the Toronto maple leafs have only won 11 Stanley cups .. if you are counting the st. pats cup and the other Toronto teams cups, then you have to include all the Montreal teams cups with the Montreal canadians, which would give the canadians 40 Stanley cups .. fact of the matter is the maple leafs only have 11 Stanley cups, not 13
I think it's because the Maple Leafs were founded as the Blueshirts, then changed their name to the Arenas for a season, then changed their name to the St. Pats, and finally changed it to the Maple Leafs. The Montreal Shamrocks and Victorias were not the same organization as the Canadiens. The Montreal Shamrocks folded and disbanded before the Canadiens were founded; the Victorias continued to play until 1939, so they were playing at the same time as the Canadiens.
