Asked by Wiki User

Those are two different events. You can't predict what you'll go in the 100 free with your 50 free time. Depends on your body. if u can hold a 32 or 33 sec 4 both ur 50s, u'll get 1:04-1:06 on ur 100! :) good luck =]

Who is artem silchenko?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

artem silchenko (russia) is the most awesomist red bull cliff diver in the world and he nailed his new back handstand two and a half two and a half twisting free postion dive in azores and inis mor for like 9s and 10s! The tariff (dd) on this dive is 6.0 meaning it is the second hardest dive possible after gary hunts back triple quadruple twist which is 6.3 tariff but not executed like artem who does the extremely badass blind entry where he cant even see the water when he enters. It is the coolest dive possible from the poolside to 54 metres which is the world record high dive set by oliver favre doing a back double but most people think the cooler dive is dana kunzes reverse triple from 52 metres which he got 9s for is better. But come on guys artems is the best. He has come third, third, and second in 2009,2010 and 2011 and in 2012 he is only 100 points behind 9 times world champion orlando duque in this years red bull cliff diving world series which i hope that he wins very much. He has the potential and i am so excited because i am going to watch the world series in wales where he will be peforming. After the competition there is a session where the cliff divers get to teach the crowd to dive from 5 and 10 metres so hopefully artem will teach me. good luck artem

"I can win and I must win" - Artem Silchenko was not satisfied at all with his results in the first three competitions in 2010. The armstand dive with a blind entry - a rarely-executed manoeuvre where the diver sees the water for the final time at least half a somersault before his entry and so lines up "blind" - was displayed for the first time in Mexico and led him to an emotional victory in Polignano a Mare, Italy.

Is it true that Russians are afraid of nothing? Legends say that they kill bears with their bare hands and put hungry wolves to flight, but who knows... a little bit more traceable is Artem Silchenko's story. Born in Russia's southwest, the 27-year-old moved to China six years ago to start his high diving career. He didn't only fall in love with the feeling of flying - "one or two seconds before I dive, my body is still on the platform but my brain it is already flying" - but also with one of the "aqua belles" in the diving show. The synchro swimmer is now his wife and mother to his baby daughter.

Over the years, the tight-lipped Russian has become one of the heavyweights of cliff diving. He won the world championships in 2006 at the age of only 22 and is now famous for his great diving technique and his unceasing motivation: "I always want to win because I'm a professional Russian sportsman." He likes the height and the options it gives him. "26m is the optimum height; you can control your body even in the water. However, I like 30m as well, it's just a little bit more difficult to handle and when you enter the water you really feel the full power of the impact."

It was his mum who first encouraged him - "my mum liked it and she knew my first coach" - and now Artem Silchenko is one of the leading contenders for the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series. The Russian's dedication saw him end season II in Hawaii with his first ever '10' in a World Series competition and third place overall.

After four second-placed finishes in 2011, Artem once again saved his best for last, securing a massive 518.30 points in the final competition in Ukraine to register the highest score ever in a Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series competition.

Artems biggest hobby is chess which helps him prepare for his competitions artem already has 6 red bull cliff diving titles so lets hope he can continue his streak to become the world series champion

When do you do flip turns in an IM?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You would do a backstroke flip turn in the 50 meter portion of backstroke, a freestyle flip turn in the 50 meter portion of freestyle, Also regular butterfly and breaststroke turns in their 50 meter portions.

You also need to know how to do transitional turns from butterfly to backstroke, backstroke to breaststroke, and breaststroke to freestyle.

Remember also make sure and do two-hand touches on all breaststroke and butterfly turns and finishes.

How do the judges normally record the results of swimmers in a swimming competition?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

there are no judges, there are timers and head timers and officials that can disqualify you.

the starter blows a horn that tells you to start your race, and it automatically starts the timer. when you finish the race, there will be a touch pad that records the exact time you touch the wall and finish your race. the time is automatically recordes and sent by computer to the officials.

but if the pool does not have touch pads (they are very expensive, so not every pool has them) then there will be timers with a srtopwatch. they start the stopwatch when the horn is blown, and stop it when they see you touch the wall. they will the write your time down and send it to the officials.

if you are disqualified your time is still recorded and sent to the officials, they then erase it and replace it with a DQ.

What age should boys be allowed into the girls changing room at the pool with their mother or sister?

They really don't belong there at all at any age. It has always made me uncomfortable when a young child is in the women's locker room at the gym. A dressing room is a bit different because there are usually separation with walls and doors.

What are the disqualification of the four basic styles in swimming?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I'm not an expert but I am a competitive swimmer with many experiences with DQ (disqualification) here's what I know Freestyle-you can do pretty much any thing as long as you don't turn onto your back or touch the bottom Backstroke- do not turn onto your front except when doing flip turns, while doing a flip turnuse only one stroke to turn over and do not gluide to long Breaststroke-you must do whip kick while swimming and a proper pull out (push of gluide pull arms down while simultaneously doing ONE dolphin kick (that one always getts me) when touching the wall touch with two hands. Fly-dophin kick and two hand pull always also two had touch if these things are not done you will be DQ'd also if you stay under water for more than 15 meters hope this helps!!!!!

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

depends on the area you live, in the south 5w-30 all year round, north summer 10w-30,winter 5w-30,etc. types of oil:stay with major name brands:valvoline,havoline,sheel,exxon,etc... If you like synthetics .there fine, just a little pricey, but have definite advantages over reg.5w-30 oil. the manual tells you make sure the oil is say "m" rated or say "API services SM" on bottle.

Do longer fingernails make you faster in the water or do they cause drag?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Long fingernails definitely create a little drag. The more surface area you have on the front of your body, the slower you go. If your fingernails are painted that gives the officials an advantage to disqualify you. They are able to see if your hands touch at the same time or not during an event with an open turn.

If your talking about punishment there really is no best punishment. This whole website is about opinion, but out of experience I think a 200 butterfly sprint is punishment enough. If they don't work it then you should make them do it until they do. :)
