laws regarding switchblades vary state to state, some states allow ownership but do not allow a person to carry one. other states it is illegal to even own one...however, there are permits in certain states that allow you to carry a switchblade legally. for example, in new york, you can carry a switchblade while hunting or fishing but you still need a valid hunting/fishing license. again, this is not the case in other states so you need to check with your state laws.
automatic knives are defined as having a blade which is deployed by simply pressing a button located on the handle of the knife. balisongs, or "butterfly" knives, consist of two handles that rotate around a blade at two pivot points. these knives don't have any sort of deploying mechanism or spring an are completely manual, they are not considered automatic knives. However, in some states, a butterfly knife is considered a switchblade because you can use gravity to open it. An example of such a state is New Jersey.
In many countries, yes, either by a definition or explicitly. In others, they are permitted subject to several strict requirements or for certain reasons.
they were created for the purpose of easy acess during World War ll when soldiers got close to each other and had to use them.
"Rostfrei" is actually German, meaning "stainless". Switchblades stamped with "rostfrei" are generally lower quality although they can be ok knives for the money. If you want a switchblade just to have one (if its legal for you to have of course) they will be fine. If you're looking for something nicer or higher-end, you may be disappointed.
Only to the uneducated. They are no more capable of cutting or stabbing then any other kmife. There are now knifes that look and open just like a switchblade But without the button. And hassle of owning one.
you prably get some at the flea mart or you can order some online. (but just remember they are illegal so don't pull it out in front of people or cops and don't get a knife unless you are 18 or older)
Currently Switchblades are illegal to possess and to carry in the state of New York. I found the answer on wikipedia. I hate posting links because they some times go dead but here is a link that tells what state they're legal in and what states they're illegal in. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switchblade

A real switchblade knife uses a spring loaded blade hidden inside the hollow handle and a release lever. When the release lever (i.e. switch) is flipped the spring rapidly forces the blade from the hollow handle into position for use and the blade latches on a catch that is part of the release lever. To put the blade back in the hollow handle the release lever is moved to unlatch the catch and the tip of the blade is pressed against a hard surface to compress the spring again. The image shows one of these switchblade knives with the release lever clearly visible.
Yes they are legal in the state of Florida if you don't conceal them. If you conceal it you need a conceal carry permit. Yes the same permit that you use for handguns. I hope I could help.
you can eather get them in a Mexican shoping store or the flee market and no you can not bring them from Mexico to the u.s
Why would they? A policemen would need a heavier duty blade-a switch blade simply would not suffice.
No, it is not a switch blade. A switch blade has a spring assisted opening mechanism, released by a switch. A thumb stud provides a handle on the blade for manually opening the blade; more convenient than the standard thumbnail grove.
They are not legal to carry, though you can own one, best to consult an attorney on ownership, you could be charged with "5-73-120 Carrying a weapon" if not within one of the exemptions specified.
