At the beginning of "The Great Gatsby," Nick describes himself as someone who comes from a well-off family in the Midwest, values honesty and moral integrity, and has a tendency to reserve judgment. He sees himself as a Midwesterner who lacks the cynicism and materialism of the people he meets in the East.

Nick Carraway attended Gatsby's party because he was invited by Gatsby himself, who hoped to reconnect with Daisy through Nick's presence. Additionally, Nick's decision to go to the party was influenced by his curiosity and desire to observe the extravagant lifestyles of the wealthy elite in the 1920s.

F. Scott Fitzgerald, perhaps the most famous writer of the era, created, colorful, glamorous characters who chased futile dreams in The Great Gatsby, a novel that poignantly exposed the superficiality of much modern society.

Gatsby died towards the end of the novel. Wilson shot him and then killed himself at Gatsby's home. He blamed Gatsby for hitting Myrtle with his car and killing her; when in reality it was Daisy driving.

Nick notices that Jay Gatsby's father, Henry C. Gatz, arrives at Gatsby's mansion after his death and shows Nick a schedule of Gatsby's boyhood accomplishments inscribed in a book. This shows the extent of Gatsby's aspirations and ambitions in life.

This allusion is some what ironic, although Gatsby was a self-made man, he used his wealth to attempt to win Daisy back, not to do great things for the country. It is obvious that Gatz has a much different view of his son's importance than Carraway or possibly even the rest of society.

Nick Carroway in The Great Gatsby is the narrator of the novel. He lives beside Gatsby and is a rather close friend of Daisy's. Nick is the person through whom the reader gains all insight to the other characters and seems to be one of the few moral characters in the novel.

Tom took Nick to meet his mistress, Myrtle Wilson, in the city.

Many characters in the Great Gatsby parralell Fitzgeralds life. For example, Daisy, the women Jay Gatsby has been basing his whole life on, is similar to Zelda Sayre, who would not marry Fitzgerald at first because of his lack of success.

To add on to that, F. Scott Fitzgerald lived in Great Neck, Long Island after his first child was born. At the time, the Great Neck was home to many of the wealthiest people on Long Island. A scholar has proven that there are many similarities between the Great Neck and the West Egg.

Gatsby and Fitzgerald both met vital women to their lives at dances, and both while they were stationed at camps in the army.

Gatsby met Daisy at Camp Taylor in Illinois, where they danced and fell in love. However, after Gatsby went off to war, they never got back together again.

Fitzgerald met his wife, Zelda, at Camp Sheridan in Alabama. Instead of going off to war (his regiment was ready to go to Europe, but the Armistace came before they could leave the States), he went to New York to get enough money to marry Zelda.

In the movie version, Daisy tells Gatsby that "Rich girls don't marry poor boys." This line was taken straight out of Fitzgerald's life. The father of his first love, a young woman by the name of Ginevra King, supposedly told him that after Fitzgerald asked for Ginevra's hand in marriage.

There are many other similarities between F. Scott Fitzgerald and Jay Gatz (Gatsby)- keep your eyes out for them!

Gatsby, in order for his new persona that he has created for himself to work [being an "Oxford" graduated young gentleman] feels that this is an appropriate expression to use; yet Tom confronts this later in the book, just before Myrtle is ran over.

In the 1920's, drinking was against the law but people who sold alcohol during this time to the right group of people could become very rich fast. Gatsby did this. This is also called Bootlegging.

The conflict is that Jay Gatsby loves Nick Carraway's cousin, Daisy Buchanan, but she is already married to wealthy Tom Buchanan. Also, after an initially awkward reunion, Jay and Daisy reestablish their connection. There love rekindled, Tom become overly suspicious of their relationship. Even though Tom is also having an affair, he still thinks it is wrong of Daisy to be unfaithful towards him. The next day, they find out that Jay's car has struck and killed Tom's second lover, Myrtle. Driving back to Long Island, Nick learns from Jay that Daisy was driving the car when it struck Myrtle, but that Jay intends to take the blame. The next day, Tom tells Myrtle's husband, George, that Jay was the driver of the car. George becomes so upset he finds Jay in the pool at his mansion and shoots him dead, then killing himself.

Only a handful of people attended Gatsby's funeral: Nick Carraway, Owl Eyes, Gatsby's father, a few servants, and Gatsby's friend, Meyer Wolfsheim. Most of Gatsby's supposed friends and acquaintances did not attend, showing the superficial nature of their relationships with him.

Meyer Wolfsheim is the gangster character in "The Great Gatsby." He is a shady, underworld figure who is associated with organized crime and illegal activities. Wolfsheim is known for fixing the 1919 World Series and has connections to Jay Gatsby.

Though Daisy was in-love with Jay, she also loved Tom. She was torn between Jay Gatsby, who was a love-sick puppy, and Tom, who loved Daisy, but resented her attraction to Gatsby. In the end, Daisy stays with Tom seemingly out of fear, but really made the decision so as not to lose her wealth and social-status.

Some archetypes in "The Great Gatsby" include the tragic hero (Gatsby), the femme fatale (Daisy), the corrupt wealthy elite (Tom and Daisy Buchanan), and the American Dream. These archetypes help to convey themes of ambition, greed, disillusionment, and the decay of moral values.

Pammy is Daisy Buchanan's daughter in The Great Gatsby. She is briefly mentioned in the novel as a young child who Daisy has with her husband, Tom Buchanan. Pammy's role in the story is minor, primarily serving as a symbol of Daisy and Tom's unfulfilling marriage.

Gatsby knows Jordan Baker through their mutual connection to Daisy Buchanan. Jordan is a friend of Daisy's and is introduced to Gatsby through their social circle. Gatsby is initially intrigued by Jordan because of her association with Daisy.

He struggles to put into words the depth of emotion and awe that he feels when he gazes at the structure, highlighting the limitations of language in capturing the richness of human experience. His inability to describe the cathedral symbolizes the ineffability of certain profound moments in life.

Nick compliments Gatsby on his charm, optimism, and genuine passion for life. He admires Gatsby's ability to dream big and his willingness to take risks to achieve his goals. Nick sees Gatsby as a romantic figure who is both impressive and mysterious.

Fitzgerald does this in many ways, one way is that though he shows u everything through third person POV, he still lets us know what Nick is thinking and feeling about the situation or the person being described. Another way Fitzgerald does this is by showing us that Nick is a trusting and honest person as Fitzgerald writes of Nick in chapter 3,pg 59 "...I am one of the most honest people that I have ever known." Hence by giving us a sense that Nick is not only credible but trusting and honest as well

gatsby sent an invintaion to nick to come to his party after talking to him about flying. he hoped he would bring along daisy, which he brought to the party and daisy and gatsby were reunited once again!

She and Gatsby are giving each other secreetive looks that have obvious feeling behind them, and Tom notices. Later, Tom brings it up, and Daisy admits taht she is in love with gatsby once he (Gatsby) tells Tom that's she is.

The fact that Gatsby was killed by Wilson, rather than Tom, is and example. Not only is Gatsby's death unexpected (although slightly foreshadowed), but Tom would seem much more likely to kill him. Wilson isn't even a major character until the end of the book.
