Well you have to start the game then go to the family menu. You look and there will be a family with an arrow and you click on that. Then you will be able to choose which family you will be able to move. If you just want to move a single Sim and not a family you go into game play mode and when the newspaper comes you click on the newspaper and the menu will pop up. Then you click find own place and then you can move that Sim.
*note*- you will only be able to move a family or a single Sim if you have another house available

Unfortunately, with Sims 1 being the first game, it doesn't actually have downloadble things. The Sims 2 and 3 do however.
While The Sims 1 is getting on a bit, after all we are up to Sims 3, there are still many of us who still love the "old skool" version. There are literally hundreds of sites you can download custom content from. Ive downloaded lots (as in hundreds) of shops objects, cafe objects, home objects, skins, walls, floors and even a Womens Health Clinic. Most links are no longer working these days but there are still alot around that have their creations available for free. Alot have gone onto Yahoo Groups so look there too. Try Parsimonious for really beautiful shop objects and Around The Sims for restaurants and shops. There are some "adult" objects too, on a couple of sites, but best left alone I think. They are very graphic! By far the most extensive collection of downloable things for The Sims in any version (1 2 and 3) is The Sims Resource. The Sims 1 stuff is free you just have to join up. In every tomb there is a mummy you find it in the end after finding all treasures and after finding all the hidden doors and door steps. Always remember to bring frozen food and somewhere to sleep because if the door closes you will be trapped for days.

There are also mummies in France. Accept the adventure called "Nectar Research Assistant Needed." This will lead you on a very long adventure in which you'll gain access to Iseal's Tomb (Jean Necteaux's wife). There are two very creepy mummies in there for you to fight, feed mummy snacks, or run away from! Have fun :o)
On sims 1 how can you propose?
Assuming you are using the Sims 2, your sims have to be in love. For them to fall in love have them talk, go on dates, kiss, hug, flirt, so on and so forth. After awhile you will see the button for propose. Click on it and then you will have the option to 'propose engagement'. Then the sim will get down on one knee and give the other sim a ring. Sometimes the game will go into movie mode.
Another way to propose is if they are sitting at a table. You can click on propose and click on Surprise Engagement.

How do you create custom content for sims 1?
I had the same problem. 1. Save all of your files to EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads "please not the capitals" 2. For rar files on a mac, download unrar-x. Its free. 3. Once a rar. file is downloaded, Double click it , and move it to Downloads. 4. For zip. files and packages, simply move them into the downloads folder. 5. For sims 2 packs, the game comes with the sims 2 pack installer. Simply use that and enjoy you content. Some good websites are Modthesims2, insiminator, Sapphire sims 2, The sims resource "pay site", and all about style.

To get married, two adult sims have to get a strong realtionship. Then when they both have 90 or higher on their realtionship bars for that sim. Then click on one and press propose and engage then get to 100, then press propose and marrige.
To have kids you make two sims get into a hottub or relax in a bed. (Make sure the two sims have a strong realtioship). And click try for baby until it doesnt appear anymore, then soon your sim gets pregnant. =]
