Why did meg reject her father in A Wrinkle in Time?
Dr. Alexander Murry was and is a physicist. A group of scientists were playing with the concept of tesseracts, and Mr.Murry was one of these scientists. Their aim was to get to Mars. The scientists "picked straws", and Mr.Murry was second on the list to tesser. Mr.Murry,as I said before, was heading for Mars, however, because of his inexperience in tessering, he ends up on Camazotz. That is when IT captures him in a glass cylinder, which is transparent on the outside, but inside is pitch-black. In that cylinder, Mr.Murry and IT fought for 5 years. Mr.Murry says to Calvin that he believes that he could not have been on that planet for more than two years, however, time apparently "flows differently" there than on Earth. He was released from IT when Meg saves him from IT using Mrs.Who's spectacles, which apparently re-arranged the atoms in that cylinder. (These spectacles apparently are for one time use only as well.) After that, he joins the three kids in the rest of the quest, and is re-united with his other children, the twins Sandy and Dennys, and his wife, Dr. Kate Murry.
Note:
Everything that happened before Meg saves Mr.Murry is explained in Calvin O'Keefe and Mr.Murry's conversation on Ixchel whilst Meg is paralyzed from tessering through the "Dark Thing". This conversation stops once Meg finally starts to regain feeling.
