Habit, and convention. We all have to speak the same language if we're going to communicate.
Personally, I prefer the 24 hour clock; so 1 PM is 13:00, and 9 PM is 21:00. Of course, I did spend 21 years in the Navy, and we used the 24-hour clock exclusively. But for talking to civilians in the US, you have to use the 12 hour clock with AM and PM.
No, noon is not the same as afternoon. Noon is specifically 12:00 midday - and less precisely, the general time period from about 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Afternoon has no specific time associated with it, but is the period from 12:00 midday to the equally imprecise 'evening' - but which is generally considered to begin around 5:00 or 6:00 pm.
To get this right, you need to understand that we divided a whole day into 2 parts:
- midnight to 11:59 a.m.
- 12 noon to 11:59 p.m.

There are 60 minutes in an hour. Therefore, there would be 1 hour and 40 minutes in 100 minutes.
Is there more seconds in a week or feet in 100 miles?
One week is equal to 60 x 60 x 24 x 7 = 604800 seconds.
100 miles is equal to 100 x 5280 = 528000 feet.
Therefore, the number of seconds in one week is greater.

How long is a score in units of time?
I think it's some American thing that said 4 score and whatever years ago. Because it was used in the same sentence as whatever years, the score refers to an amount of years. Score on its own means 20, but it does not have units attached.
