There is no 12:00 AM. Midnight is properly 12:00 M, just as noon is 12:00 N, computer convenience notwithstanding.
Most people in the US still use 12 am and 12 pm to refer to midnight and noon (respectively). The current day ends at exactly midnight (12:00 am) and the next day begins right after that. You could say that the next day starts the first millisecond just after the clock strikes 12:00 am (midnight).

How do you tell time on a wristwatch with arrows instead of numbers?
The arrows are called "hands".
There may be two or three of them.
If there are three then the thinnest (and possibly the longest) is the second hand. It denotes the seconds and is the one which moves most rapidly around the face of the watch.
If there are three then the next longest, or the longest if there are only two, is the minute hand. it denotes the minutes.
The remaining hand - always the shorter of two, or the shortest of three - and usually broader then the other(s), is the hour hand.
To tell the time the watch face is usually marked in divisions of 12 units around the face, starting in the uppermost position with 12, and proceding, to the right, 1, 2, 3 and so on around to 11. These are the hours and the watch will complete two full circuits in a day.
The hour hand points to one of these numbers on the appointed hour and the minute hand points at 12 - which also denotes 00 minutes. As minutes pass the minute hand moves slowly towards the position marked with a 1. These marks need to be multiplied by 5 to convert their meaning to minutes, so that when the hour hand is pointing at a little past the 12 mark, and the minute hand is pointing at 1 the time is 5 past 12. as the minute hand completes a rotation of the watchface an hour passes and you will notice the hour hand creep slowly from 12 towards the 1 mark.
If there is a second hand on the watch, the hours marks also need to be multiplied by 5 to convert their value to seconds, so that when the second hand is pointing at 4, it is denoting 20 seconds.
