Transsexualism

This section is for questions about those who were born with a body that does not match who they are. They often use hormones or surgery to correct this condition.

Who was the first transexual?

There is a young girl named Jaz who was on a 60 Minutes documentary with Barbara Walters. But then, since transsexual people are most likely transsexual from birth, there is no such person as the youngest transsexual.

Do transsexuals have testicles?

This depends on a lot of things. When saying "transsexual", you need to clarify what kind of transsexual they are. Are the pre-operative or post-operative, and are they Male-to-Female, or Female-to-Male?

Pre-op MTFs have working male genitals, so yes.

Pre-op FTMs have female genitals which do not include testes.

Post-op MTFs have female genitals which do not include testes.

Post-op FTMs have testes, but they do not work. They are there for show because surgical technology isn't advanced enough for FTMs yet. But do not quote me on this. I am a pre-op MTF. I haven't studied FTMs too much yet.

Is Rachel Maddow transsexual?

No. Rachel Maddow is a cisgender woman.

How are transsexual operations performed?

Simply put, the person's own tissue is used to create appropriate genitalia for them.

Female-to-male -- This is usually done in three stages. First there is a bilateral mastectomy. Then the complete female reproductive system is removed. Lastly, some sort of phallus is created. The simplest way to do that is to clip the clitoral hood to make the clitoris, likely enlarged via hormone use, protrude and resemble a tiny penis. The vagina is occluded and artificial testes may be inserted. In a more complex surgery to create a phallus, skin grafts are used to build a tube, and tissue and vessels from the non-dominant arm are used as well.

Male-to-female -- In the most common surgery of this type, the testes are excised and the outer penile skin is inverted and moved to the new location. The inner tissue is mostly removed except for enough to form a clitoris. If the penile skin is inadequate, ancillary grafts or rectal tissue can be used. Surgeons use the scrotum to form the labia.

What is the meaning of post-op transsexual?

A post-op transsexual refers to a person born with transsexualism who had their condition corrected with surgery. So the transsexual woman is just a woman afterwards. Likewise, the TS man is just a man.

A pre-op TS is a person who was born with transsexualism (who is not merely transgendered) who will someday get the surgery.

There is also a non-op TG who people often mistakenly call a non-op TS. That is a man who lives as a woman, or a woman who lives as a man, and who intends on never getting surgery. They are likely not transsexual at all. That is not the same as a pre-op TS who is living in poverty or who is in bad health. The fact they would get surgery if they could would make such persons pre-ops.

Can transsexuals have babies?

Yes. Transsexual men can have babies before transition. Transsexual women can father children before transition. After surgery, when their transsexualism is eliminated, they become sterile.

Are there any MtF transsexuals who live in or close to Galesburg IL?

It is possible that there are transsexual women who live in or close to Galesburg, IL. You can check your local classified ads or the personals on Craigslist to find people near you.

Would you be willing to give me a male to female makeover?

There are many make-up artists that will give male to female makeovers. You can find one in your local Yellow Pages.

Can a person become pregnant from swallowing semen from a male to female transsexual?

No that is not possible. Nobody can get pregnant from oral sex, not even if they swallow the ejaculate. The digestive tract is not connected to the reproductive system. Thus any consumed sperm will be digested as food and not cause pregnancy.

What is transsexual with dog?

This is difficult to answer not knowing the context. If you read it in a local personals page, it likely means the person has transsexualism and owns a dog. When the term transsexual is used correctly, it refers to a person who was born with transsexualism and who will eventually have surgery.

However, pornographers use the term transsexual to refer to crossdressed men (or non-op, male-born transgender individuals, and in rare cases, actual pre-op TS persons who allow themselves to be exploited in such a manner for surgery money), who model things being done with their genitals. Most are not transsexual persons but give actual transsexual persons who need surgery and the chance to live as normal women a bad name. So if you are asking in the context of such hard core pornography, I am not sure you really want to know, since the term "with" might imply sex. So in the context of hard core porn, with the term transsexual misused, specifying they are "with" an animal may suggest illegal sex between the two.

Why are you attracted to transsexuals?

A common reason why some people think they are attracted to transsexual persons is because they don't know what the term means. Transsexualism is when someone hates both the genitals they have and the life associated with them, and feels compelled to live as the other sex and get surgery to remove the unwanted parts and to eliminate their transsexualism. Transsexualism is something to overcome (with hormones and surgery), not something to strive for. The people displayed in pornographic magazines with their original genitals exposed do not have the condition of transsexualism, but are either gay men who choose to crossdress, or they have recreational transgenderism. So some who think they are attracted to transsexual persons are really attracted to those who choose recreational transgender lifestyles. Those attracted to such persons are likely gay or bisexual and in denial.

If someone is attracted to actual transsexual persons and are willing to wait until they get their corrective surgery, then there are a few possibilities. They may admire the person's courage and tenacity. Or they ignore the transsexual part altogether and see the actual person; the spirit that resides within.

How many transsexual people live in Philadelphia?

Estimating the exact number of transsexual individuals in Philadelphia can be challenging due to various factors, including the stigma surrounding gender identity and varying definitions of transgender identities. According to the U.S. Transgender Survey and local studies, the transgender population in large cities like Philadelphia is often estimated to be around 1% of the total population, which could translate to several thousand individuals. However, for precise statistics, more localized studies or census data would be needed.

What is the difference between transsexual and transgender politics?

It is quite complicated and takes a lot of explaining.

Prior to 2000, there were two recognized groups of people. There were people who felt "trapped in the wrong body," who wanted surgery, and simply wanted to eliminate a "physical condition" and get on life as if they never had the condition. They were called transsexuals (TS). The other group were men who kept the identities of men and dressed or lived as women. They were called crossdressers (CD) and transvestites (TV). Transvestite was not preferred since that was a mental health term back then. The TS persons simply wanted to be whole and accepted as Mainstream, but the CD crowd were the activists of the day and fought alongside the emerging gay community.

But then a third group of people emerged. Some called themselves transgenderists, and others claimed they were non-op transsexuals, despite that being a contradiction in terms. The term transsexual implies there are only two physical sexes and that a person crosses from one to the other. To only way to cross the body over is to take hormones and have surgery. Keep in mind that "sex" and "gender" did not mean the same thing in those days. Your physical "sex" was your body, and your "gender" was who you are, how your brain was configured, and what nature of the two you have. The transgenderists were not accepted well when they began to emerge.

Now, you have to understand that people born with transexualism have a vastly different nature than members of the transgender community. Transsexual persons are mostly just like everyone else. They only have what they see as a physical condition, they fix it, they often distance themselves from the wrong life they were forced to live, and simply try to blend in. They don't try to change the laws, but get the existing laws adapted to them. Transgender persons take more of their cues from the LGBT community and shun a lot of the values that persons born with transsexualism thrive upon.

Now, you can probably see how activism can become lopsided and how transgender values may get forced onto transsexual persons with mainstream values. TS persons try to fit into existing culture and work from inside that framework to get acceptance, and mostly on a personal, per person level. So they are typically not that outspoken unless of course they get pushed into that. Nobody knows the true number of TS people who simply get surgery and go on with their lives as Mainstream, cisgendered folks. Now, what the TG community wants isn't exactly what most of society wants, and not compatible with what many TS persons want. They do want recognition and a community, and nothing is wrong with that. However, they sometimes do it in ways that harm what TS folks want - acceptance among the general public, not forced membership into a gender "ghetto."

So there is a vacuum of leadership, since TS folks really don't want an organized group taking care of them. They typically want the freedom to struggle in the real world among their true peers (minus the "deformity). So the TG and LGBT crowd are free to move in and take over, and since TSs as a whole are not active in the TG community, there is nobody to dissent. The TG need to be out and about is what drives them to look for leadership positions. They see themselves as a minority while many TS persons don't. People with cancer don't start a separate Cancer Community and see themselves as a minority group. So there is no need to start a separate community from the general public if you were born with the wrong parts.

How Beliefs About Gender Affect Other Deeply Held ViewsThe difference in background and living situation between the TS crowd and the TG crowd yields to different beliefs about life, religion, politics, and so on.

Consider this. If you think your body is the problem, then you would be more likely to change yourself to fit into existing society. You would not be out to change laws nor rebel, but to work within the existing framework. You would want to make friends with the in-group, not antagonize them, and work to earn some of their power. If your body is the only thing wrong, but your nature has always been like that of a member of your corrected (or soon to be corrected) physical gender, then that is where your alliances will be. You would take for granted that you are a woman (or man if FtM) and not worry about who accepts you. You would simply do all the same things of others of your corrected gender, for the same reasons, effortlessly, and without thinking about it. It would be second-nature. You would likely be more likely to oppose abortion since you feel robbed of the correct body and the chance to mother a child (if MtF). You might feel more traditional in terms of gender roles since you feel they were unfairly held from you based on what body you were born with.

Now, consider if you consider the discrepancy between your body and nature or at least social gender role to be natural. So then it is not your body holding you back, but society. So that means you need to stand up, be counted, and be an activist. You would feel compelled to try to change society. You would likely believe that most people are good but that society and living situations make them "bad."

Now lets look at the differing dynamics of transsexualism and transgenderism in regards to religious preference. The TS model would be closer to Christianity, while the TG model would be closer to Eastern religion or maybe Wicca. Christians believe they were born with a sinful nature and that Jesus came to save them from that and give them a new nature. TS persons believe they were born with the wrong body and that surgeons exist to give them the correct body. Christians pray and often read Scripture daily for spiritual growth. TS persons take hormones for breast growth.

Eastern religion believes in a balance of forces, a Yin and a Yang. TG folks may see themselves of having both in them. They may believe in multiple deities like they may believe in multiple genders in the same person. Witchcraft values diversity like the TG crowd.

Why do people keep spreading the hurtful myth that transsexuals are transgender people with surgery when transsexualism is inborn and transgenderism is chosen and surgery cures transsexualism?

Because they do not understand and are not educated. It may be a job of either group to try to educate others. It may take awhile as the media probably is not helping. If people make the mistake often enough without being challenged, it can become the "truth".

This happens in other cases as well. For example, trying to explain that viruses are not alive is like trying to explain this to a wall.

What does it mean if a transsexual is hormone free?

It means they not currently taking hormones. Hormones have the effect of giving TS women softer skin, more feminine facial shape, wider hips, developed breasts, etc. They give TS men facial hair, a more masculine shape, and, notably, a deeper voice.

If the person is not taking hormones, they are either in the early stages of transition - before hormones have been prescribed, or they are transgendered rather than transsexual and have decided to forgo a full transition.

They will remain showing the secondary sexual characteristics of their birth gender, and retain sexual potency (as hormones will often cause sterility or a complete inability to "perform").

Can a girl get pregnant after having a transsexual surgery?

No. Sexual Reassignment Surgery, or SRS, always comes at the expense of losing the ability to have children. In a female to male individual, his vagina is reshaped into a penis. In a male to female, she has a vagina, but cannot be given a womb, hence, cannot become pregnant.

BTW, this is transsexual surgery, not "transgender" surgery, since the surgery corrects the sex and does not change anyone's gender (who they are and the nature they were born with). True-transsexuals are a subset of the Mainstream Community, not the TG nor LGBT community, unless of course they are LGBT after their surgery. Most TGs are not really the gender they seem to present enough to want or need the surgery. See, transsexuals are gender conformists and simply were born with the wrong body, while TGs are gender variant and have no real need to change their bodies. Transgender tends to mean someone is between the genders, while TSs seek to become full members of a single gender.

Do you have to be a transgender to get a sex change?

No. In fact, it is best if you are not "transgender." Sex reassignment is for people born with transsexualism, not people merely manifesting some form of "transgenderism." Many, if not most, transgender people love their original genitals and use them sexually. Instead, you had better be born with the condition of transsexualism. Transsexualism is not something you do or become, but something you use hormones and surgery to get rid of.

Now, there are people who don't actually have transsexualism who get the surgery. Many TGs are not honest with themselves and get the TS-only procedure of SRS by mistake. They may feel a need to compete with actual TS women who need the surgery. But then there are the TG types and even gay men who know they don't have transsexualism and who have stable personal reasons for wanting the surgery.

The main thing the surgeons look at is if the person meets the standards of care. And therapists these days are flexible enough to approve even nonstandard types of patients as long as they are confident the surgery will do more good than harm.

What are the dangers of a person doing a transformation from male to female?

There are a number of risks associated with transitioning from a male gender to female. There are health risks, for example: hormone replacement therapy increases risk of heart disease, stroke or blood clots; these risks increase with age. There are also social risks centered around transphobia, as transgender people have to face discrimination and hate crimes from transphobic people.

Is the transsexual Monique Di Chambers dead?

Where is she I'm a big fan 🤣😃 and I hope she's doing well

Can estrogen pill make a man into a transsexual?

No. If a person is not born with transsexualism and the need to eliminate it, then no pill nor surgery can make them have it. The estrogen is to help eliminate transsexualism and help someone to transition to completely female.

Are there any talk shows that actually interview transsexual Nazi Eskimos?

No, such a talk show doesn't seem to exist. That is a fake topic used in sarcasm or satire to poke fun at talk shows. Nobody knows for sure how many Inuit people have transsexualism. While it is possible to be a Neo-Nazi transsexual person, that is not a common phenomenon, and besides, nobody can be an actual Nazi since the overthrow of Hitler removed that possibility.

What can you do when others misgender you?

It depends on many factors such as the cause and whether it is deliberate. Here are some of the things that transsexual persons and others who get misgendered do.

1. Work on your own appearance and presentation. Perhaps you are starting to get lazy in your appearance or hygiene. Perhaps you could benefit from voice practice or a deportment class.

2. If it just happens once, just correct them.

3. If it happens repeatedly in a place of business, government agency, or financial institution, one strategy some use is to break down and cry or otherwise put on a victim act. Or they would go to the manager, ask them if they don't appreciate their business, pointing out the number of faithful years of patronage and/or money spent with them, compliment the place, say if they continue to be mistreated that they will go elsewhere, and then tell what happened. The trick is to appear as a victim to gain sympathy, not appear as an aggressor.

4. Or alternately, in place of number three, try to keep any anger about this under control. Instead, wait until you get away from the place to vent, and then call the place. If it happened repeatedly by the same one(s), and they were particularly nasty or malicious about it, don't be afraid to go after their jobs. If you loudly curse them out in person, you could be banned, but if you call the management, maybe mention press attention or a boycott, and demand that they be fired, it just might not happen again.

5. Avoiding the businesses of those who do so is another tactic, though publicly stating it as a boycott might work better. You can start a blog about anti-transsexual businesses or write to the editor of a newspaper.

6. Doing it back to them is another tactic. If they get offended, let them know how it makes you feel.

7. Another tactic is to grow a thicker skin if you can. However, nobody should just settle for abuse.

8. Talking to a therapist is another thing you can do. It won't fix the problem, but perhaps you can change your perspective, or the therapist can give some pointers on what to do.

9. Joining a support group may help, as long as it is one that addresses basic how-to issues and pragmatic concerns. It won't help if you attend a group that diminishes the seriousness of the issue for you, tells you to "just be yourself" while giving no practical support, attacks you for being "read," or insist that you are really gender variant and should just "learn to accept it."

Why do men like transsexuals so much?

There are a number of possibilities as to why a man would fall in love with "transsexuals." Chances are, they don't mean genuine transsexuals who have to have corrective surgery to eliminate their transsexualism. More than likely, they mean non-op TG persons. Here are some possible archetypes:

1. A number of guys are closeted gay guys and they see a non-op TG as a means to loophole their homosexuality while still maintaining their anti-gay feelings. They are attracted to the male parts, and yet the feminine appearance can be used as a cover or to give themselves permission. A telltale sign of this is when they insist that their "girlfriends" remain "discrete" or they otherwise act ashamed of them.

2. There are bisexual and pansexual guys who love across a whole range of masculinity and femininity, and that includes non-op transgendered.

3. There are FtM guys who find that being with MtF women makes things the least complicated, and they would likely be able to legally marry in all contexts.

4. There are the men who are bored with their sexuality and have tried nearly everything to rekindle their desires. So they want to try something different, and the adult entertainment industry has created the stereotype of the exotic "transsexual" (not a real transsexual, but a man dressed as a woman with his genitalia on display).
