You'd need to have it authenticated. There are probably more copies and counterfeits of CSA currency than real bills.

Assuming it (a) has a red or brown seal, and (b) is not a copy, it could retail for $250 to $500. But you would need to have it authenticated because a lot of older bills have been copied and sold as keepsakes and curiosities.

Please don't assume that every old bill is a silver certificate. As the green seal and wording across the top of the bill indicate, a 1934 $50 bill is a Federal Reserve Note.

Banks don't buy or sell collectible currency. Regardless of a bill's age or rarity, a bank is only allowed to give you face value so you would only get $1 for a 1935 silver certificate.

Paper money errors of this sort are definitely worth more than face value. I can't find a reference for this specific error so I don't want to guess at a price, but related misprints can retail for over $100.

I'd advise finding a couple of dealers or appraisers who deal in currency errors and get some estimates. Don't take the first one offered till you have a competing bid.

It depends on the bill's condition and series letter. Bills with that date were issued in a "series" that actually lasted into the mid-1950s. Letter were put after the date to indicate the treasury secretary who was in office at the time a particular run was printed.

Also, remember that the motto was not added to bills until the late 1950s, in large measure as a response to so-called "godless communism" in the Soviet Union. Earlier bills without the motto are standard issue and are not errors.

There wasn't even a U.S., let alone dollars, in 1492.

If you mistyped and meant 1942, the U.S. didn't print any bills with that date.

US currency bills are occasionally circulated that have been misprinted, folded when printed, missing designs, or with some other appearance that is unusual. SOME of these error bills are sought after by currency collectors, but not all will command a price much greater than face value. Similarly, coins that have been mis-struck may have some value to those who collect such coins. Not all errors are rare and valuable.
