Assuming you have a 1934 or 1953, it's worth about $8 in circulated condition. A nice crisp uncirculated one is worth about $15.

US bills issued before 1990 didn't have a lot of anti-counterfeiting features. They don't have a watermark, a security strip, color-shifting ink, etc. so you have to go by appearance and feel.

First, the paper will have tiny blue and red threads embedded in it. These should be visible under a strong light.

Second, the paper will have the same firm feel to it that more modern bills have.

Third, the denticles (teeth) around the seal on the front will be sharp and evenly spaced.

Fourth, the engraving lines of Ben Franklin's portrait will be sharp, and his image will appear to have depth, almost like a photo.

Fifth, most anti-counterfeiting pens will work on older bills. Their "ink" will change color on a fake.

You have a novelty item that sells for a couple of bucks in gift shops and dollar stores. After all, in 1923 a billion dollars was a large chunk of the country's entire GDP so it wouldn't have made any reasonable sense to print bills in that denomination.

In fact the US never issued any circulation bills higher than $10,000. The largest US bills ever printed were the series 1934 $100,000 notes that were only used for intra-government transactions.

Enormous numbers of $2 bills were printed in 1976 for the Bicentennial celebration, so it's not unusual to find them with consecutive serial numbers. If they're from change, they have no extra value. Uncirculated ones might bring $3 to $4.

Please check your bill again. There are 1950 A and 1950 C $10 bills but they're different. The series letter is next to the date; any other letter isn't a series letter.

Neither one is rare, though. As of 03/2012 they would retail for $12 to $15 in averaged condition.

Serial numbers are counters and security features, but rarely affect a bill's value except in a few specific cases. Normally the bill's series date and letter as well as its condition are much more important.

In this case the "IA" at the start of the serial number is a tip. Dual-letter serial numbers were first used with the 1990 series of most denominations, so any $5 bill with that date or later is too new to have any extra value.

It was the one hundred thousand (100,000) dollar bill. These bills were only used for intra-governmental money transfers.

Please check your bill again. There were no series letters on 1934 silver certificates, and no silver certificate series letters ever went as high as K.

The motto In God We Trust didn't appear on ANY U.S. paper money until the late 1950s so it's not a mistake if the bill is older.

Please check the back of your bill to see if it has the word HAWAII printed over the ONE.

Standard 1935 series $1 silver certificates were printed with blue seals. During WWII special bills with brown seals were distributed in Hawaii. They used a different design so they could easily be recognized and declared worthless if the Japanese captured the islands.

If it doesn't have overprinting it may have been exposed to chemicals or something else that affected its ink, and wouldn't any extra value.

Every modern US bill has a caption under the portrait identifying the person shown, and a similar caption under the image describing the site or event shown on the back.

It was actually printed in Washington for use in Hawaii during WWII. The bills were a different color and had the name HAWAII in large letters so they'd be easy to spot and could be declared worthless if captured by the Japanese.

Some collectors will pay extra for numbers with a special pattern, e.g. 12345678, or low numbers such as 00000015.
