Answer

The Vatican Council II met in St. Peter's Basilica when all the Council Fathers came together for a vote or some such. I don't think there was any other building that could hold all the Bishops from the entire world at one time:

The Vatican had over 2600 Bishops and another addition to theologians and other experts, adding up to 3000. It consisted of;

  • 1089 bishops from Europe
  • 489 bishops from South America
  • 404 bishops from North America
  • 374 bishops from Asia
  • 296 bishops from Africa
  • 84 bishops from Central America
  • 75 bishops from Oceania, , which included Papua New Guinea, The Solomon Islands, New Zealand and Australia
  • 63 observers from other Christian Churches
  • 52 lay men and women over the whole four years.

Please note, only Bishops were official members of the Vatican Council. Smaller meetings were held all over the Vatican in different meeting halls according to the size need.

How did priesthood change after the Second Vatican Council?

.

Catholic AnswerThe priesthood itself did NOT change after the Second Vatican Council, however, the role of the laity expanded, and many things which had previously been reserved to minor Orders and which, in practice, were done by priests, were now given to the laity. Lay people became sacristans, acolytes, lectors, ministers of Holy Communion, etc. Well, they didn't become those things, they just started taking on their jobs which had previously been done by priests as there were few ordained acolytes, lectors, sacristans, and ministers of Holy Communion outside of seminaries and monasteries.

Who introduced communion in the hand after vatican 11?

The practice of Communion in the hand was introduced following the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), which encouraged greater lay participation in the liturgy. The decision to allow this practice was influenced by the General Instruction of the Roman Missal and was implemented in various countries with the approval of local bishops' conferences. While not universally adopted, it has become a common practice in many areas since the council. The Church emphasized the importance of ensuring reverence and respect for the Eucharist in this new form of reception.

How did Vatican II change Marriage?

While it covered an enormous arc of religious doctrines and para-religious subjects ( such as church music, etc) Vatican II had little or no impact on Section V of the Canon Law- that dealing with the Matrimonial laws and practices. Direct oppositional language to other faiths was, of course toned down and expressions like ( Heretic and Schismatic) throttled back or even switched off the line. To the best of my knowledge the possibility of eliminating or even modifying the doctrine of Priestly Celibacy was never even discussed. It is within the scope of church laws that Could be modified by a future pope.

What is the Vatican's position on the practice of Reiki in the Catholic Church?

A quick Google search brings up the following web page:

http://causa-nostrae-laetitiae.blogspot.com/2009/03/usccb-clarifes-church-position-on-reiki.html

Basically, the Catholic Church sees Reiki as a bunch of superstition that distracts from the worship of God, which is rather ironic since praying to God for healing could be seen as being superstitious itself.

--euphgeek ---- A Catholic answer: The above answer uses the word superstition in a way different from the way the Catholic Church uses it. While many secular materialists categorize a belief in the existence of anything undetectable to the senses - faith in God and prayer, for example - as superstition, Catholic, and Judaeo-Christian philosophers in general have always distinguished between belief in the existence of entities our senses cannot directly detect, but which careful inquiry by reason, informed by the senses, can discover and affirm to be true, vs. entities which neither our senses can detect nor our reason affirm to be true even by careful inquiry. A persistent affirmation of the existence of the latter, the Church defines as superstition. In addition to failing to distinguish between faith in God and superstition, the first answerer has also responded to a question about the Vatican with a link to the website of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, thus revealing his or her failure to distinguish between Rome, Italy and Washington, D.C. , U.S.A. To remedy that, as well: Rome is at 41° 54'N, 12° 27' E, and Washington, D.C. is at 38° 53', 77°02'. Rome is the capital of Italy, where the Vatican is situated, and Washington, D.C. is the capital of the U.S.A. where the U.S. bishops meet periodically and decide things.
