Marikudo was the chief of the Aetas or Negritos that inhabited Panay Island in the Visayas long before the ten Bornean datus arrived and bought the island in the 13th century.

The Confederation of Madya-as was a pre-Hispanic Philippine state within the Visayas island region. It was established in the 13th century by rebel datus (chiefs), led by Datu Puti, who had fled from Rajah Makatunao of Borneo. The semi-democratic confederation reached its peak during the 15th century under the leadership Datu Padojinog when it warred against the Chinese Empire, the Rajahnate of Butuan, and the sultanates of Sulu and Maguindanao. It was also feared by the people of the Kingdom of Maynila and Tondo. [1] It was conquered after the Spanish conquest in 1569 by Miguel Lopez de Legaspi and his grandson Juan de Salcedo.

Cebu was ruled by Rajah Tupas when Miguel Lopez de Legaspi and his men revisited Cebu in the hope of pacifying the natives and eventually controlling the country.

Cebu was named Villa del Santissimo Nombre de Jesus by Miguel Lopez de Legaspi.

Ang Tambuli Beach Resort ay nasa Mactan Island ng Cebu. Tambuli ang tawag sa sungay ng kalabaw na ginagamit na parang trumpeta. Tambuli din ang tawag sa "sea conch" na kung hinihipan ay para ding trumpeta ang tunog. Ito siguro ang nasa isip ng mga may ari ng resort kung kaya nila tinawag na tambuli ang resort nila.
