If you are really committed and good at volleyball you can get scholarships to big volleyball schools like UCLA or USC. If you are not as committed but still really good you can play at a smaller volleyball school such as Notre Dame or Cal state. Just remember if you want to get seen by a college you have to play club,people who look for good volleyball players always see clubs instead of high school players.

a 5-1 OFFENSE i would think means the team was out of rotation using a 5-1 but i play club and school volleyball and iv never heard that term used. i do kno wat a 5-1 is tho 4 sure.

the objective is to win the point by:

1. the ball hitting the floor inside the boundaries of the opposing teams court

2. the opposing team being the last to touch the ball before it goes out of bounds

3. the opposing team fouling

4. the opposing team fails to send the ball over the net

5. the opposing team touching the ball more than three times

When the blocker touches the net while blocking (called, "in the net"). Some think that a backrow player can come and block, but this NEVER happens unless you are in elementary school playing at a local facility for fun. The reff will notice this and call it, since the reff must know where the setter is at all times for both teams he knows where the players play and if they should be in backrow or not. Players will always notice it too.

the coach must get the ref's attention and have the girl/boy who is going in standing next to her/him and the coach must but his/her hands over her head in a rolling motion to let the ref know that they need to sub. The ref will signal for you to proceed and then the coach wil need to call the girl/boy off that in being subed out off. then the two players will stand facing each other one on each side of the sideine, with one hand extened touching the other player's. the ref will then call an okay and the game will resume.

yes but in a different way then other sports. you need long endurance and strong muscles. long jogs will help and then muscle building exercises....i play volleyball and take it from me volleyball shape and basketball shape are on opposite sides of the spectrum.

Players From the opposite team are not allowed to be in the crease when the have the ball, but the players from the defensive team may be in the crease

Yes a setter can set while located in the back row. Its a little bit harder to get it to exactly where you want it, but it works. If it is his turn to serve, or is located in the back row at the serve, you can switch to the front row after the ball is hit, but before the next serve you have to go to back where you belong.

A volleyball court is a court where you play volleyball.

RALLY SCORING: All matches shall be best three-of-five games. Games shall be played to 25 points (no cap), and the fifth and deciding game shall be played to 15 points (no cap). The let serve shall be allowed, and play shall continue provided net contact is entirely within the net antennas. Each team shall be allowed two time-outs per game, with a total of 10 time-outs if five games are played. The players want a faster-paced game, and rally scoring does that, Doyle said. Doyle said that the issues of games per match and scoring caps on games will be reviewed by the committee at the end of the 2003-04 season. Along with rally scoring, the Volleyball Rules Committee also approved several other rules changes, including Rule 9-4-8b, which addresses multiple contacts by one player. The new rule states that multiple contacts are permitted only on any first team hit, whether or not the ball is touched by the block, and it deletes the line that states, provided there is no finger action. The wording of this rule was changed because it allowed for multiple interpretations and inconsistent application, according to Doyle. Rule 9-5-4 also underwent revisions. It adds that if the flight of the ball is toward the opponents court and not toward a teammate and is legally touched by an opponent above the net, the action is a back-row player foul. If the ball is hit back in to a back-row player, it is ruled as the teams first foul. These additions remove the need for officials to judge the intent of the back-row player by judging the direction of the ball hit, Doyle said. Three changes were made to Rule 1-4 regarding the pre-match conference and coin toss. In order to encourage good sportsmanship, the home team should select its team bench upon entering the facility, and the visiting captain should call the coin toss. If necessary, prior to the deciding game of a match, the home captain should call the toss. Predetermining who calls the toss should keep the flow and order of all matches consistent, according to Doyle. Rule 9-3-3 divided one subheading into two in order to clarify when the ball is dead. Rule 9-3-3 l now states that a live ball becomes dead when an officials whistle sounds, and Rule 9-3-3 m dictates that a live ball becomes dead when a timers audio signal interrupts play. Revisions were also made to Rule 11-2-4 regarding administration of consistent time-outs. A time-out can last for a maximum of 60 seconds, but play can recommence if both teams are ready for play prior to the end of the 60 seconds. To create a more consistent order between officials and players, Rule 10-2-6b was rewritten to state that it is improper when a substitute enters or a player leaves the court before the umpire directs them to do so with a sweeping open-palm hand gesture. The uniform rule, Rule 4, underwent several changes as well. Players cannot wear jewelry during pre-match warm-up or competition, and they must wear uniforms as the manufacturers intended. The standard volleyball court is 30 ft wide so the poles need to be 36 ft apart. This gives you 3 ft on each side of the court for clearance before you run into the poles.
