Human taking over their natural habitat.
Cause of humans hunting, poaching, spreading diseases and taking out wolves's natural habitats
How many red wolves where there before they came endangered?
pure red wolves are extint but in captivity there are about 300 red wolves
The red wolf is one of the world's most endangered wild animals. The red wolf population was nearly wiped out by the 1960s. A small population of red wolves survived along the Gulf coast. The red wolf was declared an endangered species in 1973. Of the 17 remaining wolves captured, 14 were bred in successful captive breeding programs. The US Fish and Wildlife Service declared red wolves extinct in the wild in 1980.
By 1987, enough red wolves were bred in captivity to begin a restoration program in North Carolina.
Over 100 red wolves roam their native habitats in North Carolina and approximately 200 red wolves are in breeding programs across the United States, such as one on Florida's Gulf Coast. Interbreeding with the coyote is seen as the biggest threat to restoring red wolves on their home range.
Wolves height average between 26 and 32 inches at the shoulder.
Is the gray wolf affected by pollution?
Grey Wolves to be removed from the Endangered Species list and I am angry. Wait the Western predator and vital link in the Western American ecological ffod chain has been given a reprieve!
A News Release from Washington, D.C. from Rob Emanuel himself states:
"Rahm Emanuel, White House Chief of Staff, issued a memorandum that directed federal agencies to withdraw all regulations that had not been published in the Federal Register so that they can be reviewed and approved by a department or agency head appointed by the President. Therefore, the final rule to delist the Gray Wolf Western Great Lakes DPS (which was announced on Jan. 14) was withdrawn to allow for further review. " U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
A battle has been won regarding the grey wolf but the 'war' to save endangered wildlife is far from over.
Imperiled wildlife are the responsibility of all people and the wolf is in need of our help now. Why should we protect and defend the right to life of a predatory animal, such as the Grey Wolf?
One - wolves are recognized as "a keystone species" critical in the bio-system for a balanced natural world....(Defenders of Wildlife). The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has conducted numerous studies at Yellowstone National Park that indicate wolves support a wide variety of other animal life. The reports show: "ravens, foxes, wolverines, coyotes, bald eagles, and even bears feed on the carcasses of animals killed by wolves. Antelope are swift, elk are alert, and mountain goats are adept at climbing steep cliffs, in part because of the long-term effects of wolf predation". It appears that wolves help "maintain the balance between these ungulates" (hoofed animals) and their food supply, making room for other herbivores like beavers and weasels to survive. The argument that wolves will kill off the elk and deer populations appears not to be substantiated by various studies and reports...in fact ecosystems where the wolf has been re-integrated and its population stabilized have strengthened (Yellowstone Project where the wolf was reintegrated has shown tremendous ecosystem benefits due to the wolf in the cycle of life).
Two - wolves cannot defend themselves against anti-environmentalist legislators and greedy government officials, who would like to do away with the Endangered Species Protection laws, in order to pillage the land they roam for OIL, GAS, WOOD, COAL and other resources that will make the few richer and continue to set off ecological disaster

What kind of animals does the gray wolf eat?
They usually eat sick or injured animals as prey.
Gray wolves are carnivores.
They can eat all kinds of prey and game in their territory.
If hunting alone, smaller animals like rabbits, squirrels, rodents, birds, and the occasional fish.
In a pack, they can eat larger animals such as moose, caribou, musk ox, deer, and other herd animals.
Wolves can also scrounge on dead animals if needed.
PREY:
What do wolves eat?
Wolves are carnivores (meat eaters) but they will eat other foods as well. They eat stuff like big game, such as elk and moose, and deer, to earthworms, berries and grasshoppers.
Gray Wolves hunt on the weaker members of the moose herd, caribou or elk herd, like to older ones and the sick or young ones. Then ever the herds migrate Wolves will hunt Little mice, birds and fish. They may even eat carrion, the food left behind from other animals.
Does the male wolf raise the pups?
Male and female wolves mate, like humans, but differingly. Go on Google before you make a fool out of yourself and look it up.
A Big Bad Wolf is an evil fictional wolf which appears in fairy tales or fables. Examples include the Aesop's fables, "The Boy Who Cried Wolf", "The Dog and the Wolf", "The Wolf and the Crane", "The Wolf and the Lamb".
You can kill a wolf by putting a bullet through the skull with a gun. In today's world, that's how most wolves are killed. However, you can also get one with a cross-bow or bow-and-arrows if you get close enough and are a really good shot.
In extremely rare (or, rather, unheard-of) cases where a wolf is attacking you you can kill one with a lance or a knife. If it's rabid, just make sure you strike first before it strikes you.
The delta wolf is 3rd in the rankings, below the alpha and Betas. There may only be 1 male and 1 female Delta wolves. The Deltas are trained to be Beta wolves by the currenct Beta, and when that Beta wolf dies or is thrown from the pack then the Delta may choose to become a Beta or stay as a Delta. The Deltas aren't extremely important, but they have a voice. Deltas cannot make decisions in the pack, unline Betas and Alphas.
Delta wolf is less talked about therefore few people know much about them. They are not interested in gathering a following nor will they be led; the lone wolf. They will align themselves with various Alphas if both see the other as true equals. Is so, he respects the Alpha's position in the Alpha's own pack. If not, he simply moves on to somewhere else to do what he needs to before returning to is own original pack.
He does not care where he lands in the pack lineup when he arrives 'home', but often becomes the Alpha by default or by defeating the original-pack's current alpha if he views them an unacceptable leader.
Or he may choose a lifetime as a Delta continually learning from and sharing with each pack he communes with. He is respected as having a purposeful life but none other ever really understands what that purpose is.
It's a wild dog, you buffoon....WILD....DOG.
A gray wolf will not attack unless threatened
A wolf may be endangered because of people hunting them. Zoos and other wildlife places are trying to save them and bring there population back up. Wolf hunting is very cruel to me. It takes another wolf one by one.
How far can a wolf run in one day?
It all depends on the training that the dog has had. Just like humans a dog can not get off the couch and do a 50 mile run. They have to start out slow and work their way up in training distances. Some of the top dogs in the world can run more than 120 miles in a 24 hour period. These dogs will have thousands of training miles in before they get to this level. They take breaks during these runs and do not run 120 miles straight through. Most will run in cycles of 4 hours on; 4 hours off or 6 hours on 6 hours off or whatever type of runs the trainer has conditioned them for.
Red wolves are not extinct, they live here where i live, north carolina, they live here more to the beach in the back woods, they kind of look like a coyote
Addendum to above answer:
The red wolf population in North Carolina was introduced back into the wild to bring the animal back from extinction. The wild population consists of about 100 animals and is still considered highly endangered although from what I've read, and based on the answer above, they seem to be thriving. As far as why the red wolf went extinct in the wild to begin with, they went extinct because a) they were heavily hunted because they were considered to be a threat to livestock and b) habitat loss due to agriculturalization.
Do wolves kill just be cause they can?
I don't think so because wolves packs get hungry when not a lot of food around so I'm saying no
What abiotic and biotic factors affect gray wolves?
There are the Biotic and Abiotic factors that affect Gray Wolves:
Biotic: - living factors
Abiotic: - non-living factors
These are only a few that I can think of off the top of my head. Hope that it helps! ;)
What do you call a teenage gray wolf?
A baby grey wolf is called a pup.

What features did man want to breed out of wolf?
Man wanted to have the Wolfs sucuclant titties and big willy of course.
What does it mean if a wolf sticks its ears straight up and bares its teeth?
It means he's not afraid to attack. It can mean the wolf is ready to fight or not worried about putting up a fight. It may also mean the wolf has sensed something it does not like, such as a rival wolf approaching the territory.
How heavy is a wolf cub at born?
It depends entirely on the individual wolf and its age. For the first two weeks of their lives, pups can gain as much as 2.6 pounds per week if they're female and 3.3 pounds per week if they're male. From three weeks to one month of age, they can weigh between 3 to 5 pounds. From 12 weeks of age until they are mature (1-3 years old), they can weigh between 22 to 30 pounds. So you can see there's a whole lot of variation in there.
To keep them warm and to keep water from touching their skin.
