Because they are endangered. Because of Europeans. Yes, i am sure you are wondering what Europeans have to do with this. OK, story time. Once upon a time wolves lived happily in the USA, when along came a bunch of Europeans. And those Europeans brought some stories along with them, like little red riding hood, and three little pigs. And the Europeans told those stories like wolves were BAD, and were going to kill us ALL! So the people got scared, AND KILLED ALL THE WOLVES! So now there are no wolves in the USA naturally. you know, this reminds me of a poem, and I've listed it here, it's a long poem. but please, read till the end. It's a poem called, Men are Murderers:
He stands alone at the top of the hill,
And sings his mournful cry,
His mate and pups are missing,
He's not certain why.
He had been out hunting
Was only gone for a day,
And hurried back with empty jaws
So scarce now was their prey.
He wasn't gone long
Eager to get home,
But the den was cold and empty
And he sensed something was wrong.
The smell of man was everywhere
With footprints in the dirt,
And bloodshed from his family,
He knew they had been hurt.
He sat and waited day by day
With hopes they would return,
There wasn't much he could do
Except quietly sit and yearn.
Why would man come all this way
To hunt and shoot them down,
To interrupt their quiet lives
When no harm had been done?
Their territory plainly marked
And not once did they stray,
For they would rather starve to death
Then to get in man's way.
The smell of chickens, cows, and sheep
Were so tempting at times,
But instincts warned not to hunt them
Or they would lose their lives.
And so they lived a quiet life
Existing on small game,
Careful it was only wildlife
And nothing man had tamed.
So he could find no reason
For the blood shed on that day,
So peacefully they lived here
So far out of man's way.
Maybe they'd becoming back
His pups and his mate,
Wolves are mated once for life
So he would sit and wait.
That was many moons ago
And they have not come back,
But he will not stop hoping
For the reunion of his pack.
He now knows men are murderers
But still does not know why,
And every night he climbs his hill
And sings his mournful cry.
I cry every time i read this poem. for it IS so true. Wolves dont mess with humans, not even if they have to, that was also a poem, by me.
the only reason why we still have wolves here is because the last people who care about wolves have resantly made a trip up to canada, and brought back some wolves into yellowstone national park. currently there are three living wolf packs still in yellowstone. and a few wolves traveling through oregon and california. so please, help the wolves, donate, but if you can't all you have to do is warn people not to kill them, you may even save a life.
The gray wolf, because of its vast range, is not considered an endangered species. Some local populations have declined, but others are thriving. The red wolf, Canis Rufus, is an endangered species, and only around 110-115 remain in the wild, all in North Carolina's Alligator River Wildlife Refuge.
What is the wolf's daily routine?
A typical day... I will try, here it is:
-Wolf wakes up
-Searches for food all day
-Finds food
-Check the area
-Hunt
-Rest
-Sleep
If you consider it, it is quite a lot of things, especially considering they can travel for up to 45Km searching for food!!!
Wolves are carnivores (meat eaters). If food is scarce, wolves will eat other foreign foods. Wolves' diet ranges from different types.
When it is time to eat the food the alpha male and the alpha female would eat first. After the alpha male and alpha female eat, the remaining pack members will dig in. Alpha male and female get the most food. The other wolves in the pack get less food.
Wolves eat there food very fast to avoid it from being stolen.Wolves eat several large animals such as moose, deer, elk, caribou, and musk oxen. Wolves will also eat smaller animals such as beavers, rabbits, hares, voles, fish, muskrats, lemmings, raccoons, shrews, woodchucks, shellfish, ground squirrels, mice, and birds.
A male wolf eats about twenty pounds of food in every kill that equals eighty hamburger patties.
Illegal and inhumane! I have bred wolves and if you do that turn yourself into the police!!!
I agree with the first response. Beside , predators are very high-tasting. This should only be contemplated in an extreme survival situation. Pray none of us ever has to find out.
The actual answer is YES Canines, while not to the tastes of North Americans are eaten elsewhere in the world.

How many symbiotic relationships do wolves have?
There are many different types of symbiotic relationships wolves have. But one that is more general is their mutual symbiotic relationship with Ravens. Wolves watch ravens for food or signs of danger. For instance, if the Raven is circling around, the wolf knows there is food. Then Ravens, in turn, will rely on the wolves skill for food. Sometimes they don't even touch carcasses where a wolf isn't around.
Hope that helps. =)
Where does the gray wolf fit on the food chain?
The Animal could be one of 3 things:
1) A combine harvester owned by Steve Coogan
2) A techno funk fusion band from Swizerland
3) A pedophile who lives at the bottom of my garden
For number one it is well known that Steve Coogan only purchases the most blood-thirsty combine harvesters and so they are subsequently high on the food chain. They feast on orphans and garden gnomes. It's natural predator is a tractor owned by Dale Winton.
Number two is low on the food chain as all of the band members were composed of apple crumble.
Number three mainly feeds on slugs as it is the only thing around him that is edible. Although I have occasionally thrown him a sock to chew. He seems to enjoy my socks.
Of what food chain is the wolf a part?
They are part of a food chain cause in yellowstone park their are endangerd trees cause the deer and moose eat them so if the wolves eat the deer and moose their is going to be more trees
How do you test the amount of carbon dioxide in carbonated beverages?
Technically, since the carbon dioxide does have weight, if you could somehow procure an unopened can/bottle of soda that is somehow flat, and another can/bottle of soda that is carbonated and took the masses of the two, the amount of CO2 would be the difference in the weight. The difference in the weights of the cans is pretty much negligible if you do this for enough trials.
Give three reason for trussing meat?
Usually meat needs to be "trussed" to be held together. For example, if you're making a rolled meat dish, you lay out your meat (such as flank steak) layer your ingredients on top, roll up and truss or tie up to be roasted. Or, if you're roasting a whole fowl (chicken, turkey, etc.) you usually need to tie up the legs and wings closer to the body or they'll burn.
What are the good and bad points of wolves?
Good points are they keep the deer and elk population in check, they are beautiful animals, their howls are beautiful, and there are no bad points. Wolves are freakin' awesome.

The invocation of the wolf spirit is a ritual of the Earth or Native American religions. The steps to invoke the wolf are to clear your mind, invite the spirit within, think and speak as the spirit, and withdraw from the spirit.
What does it mean to be digitally fluent?
Actually, it's such a vague expression that, in itself, it means NOTHING. Though what most people are trying to say when they say someone is "computer fluent" is that that person knows how to work with a computer's main features (internet, e-mail, etc...).
Not in the same sense that wolves are. Lions live in prides made up of several females and a few adult males. Lions cooperate together, but aren't all focused on what's best for the group, the way wolves would be toward the alpha pair and thier pups.
It's a point in the range of motion of a joint at which articulating surfaces are the least congruent and the supporting structures are the most lax .
In the wild they usually die at ages 8 - 10 (above average is 13 although some exceptional individuals have lived almost to twenty,) but in captivity they can easily live 15+ years.
