The Classic Wonder Woman created By Charles Moulton, was a commissioned officer of U.S. Army Intelligence. She had the rank of Lieutenant. She worked at various duty stations but mostly in and around Washington, though the Pentagon was never directly stated as an on-base posting. She was a cryptographer. Nowadays this job is done mostly by specialist non-coms or maybe Warrant Officers- who stay at the same rank throughout their careers. (They often perform highly technical tasks beyond the range of say a 24-month enlistee, but not really officer level- Bandsmen, helicopter pilots in the Army ( in USAFa they are all Commissioned officers)- and some technical specialist roles as advanced Crane Operators, Linguists, and crypto men and women.

Queen Hippolyta is the Mother of Wonder Woman. There have been various death scares, in effect health problems and so on involving the Queen Mother. It should be understood, therfore she is not immortal. If Queen Hippolyta ( pronounced Hipp- PAUL-litta) not Hippo- Lite- ah) died, Wonder Woman would automatically become Queen and have to suspend her Wonder Woman activities. This is often used ( problems with Mother"s health) as a plot device akin to power problems in Green Lantern ( when he is visibly sweating and almost neurotic to get to his lantern and recharge). similar plot device. Amazon women, in the story line, have elaborate funerals- so if it did happen it would be sad but beautiful.( that is , if Queen Hippolyta passed on.. to the Elysian Fields! There is an elaborate cemetery on the Island, by the way.

I know this sounds wacko, but maybe a younger version of Gina Lollobrigida cross-fed with some spectral influence of Veronica Spector. Think it over! Gina once made a cross-over, under her real name- In Jimmy Olsen, when a Five-Queen hand of Movie actresses visited the Newspaper offices at some sort of soiree. Wonder Woman's original powers are generally consistent with her modern day powers, Super Strength, reflexes, endurance, and speed. She also retained her iconic lasso and bracelets, as well as being superior at hand to hand combat.

Herk recalls this sort of Misogynist angle- though not overtly violent, in Wonder Woman comics.

I do not believe this plot device was used on Wonder Woman. She was under the tutelage of a Blind Karate expert named I Ching, for a while ( by the way I Ching is Chinese, and Karate is a Japanese Martial art) There was a blindness scare with Major Steve Trevor, almost got him bounced out of the Air Force- but it was a mistaken diagnosis or there were two people with the same name- there was a cover illustration of Mr. Trevor in civil clothes in a wheelchair with Dark Glasses, surely suggesting Eye problems) but often covers ( Cover) imaginary stories to lure the audience. No Wonder Woman never had a Zero-Zero ( as contrasted with 20-20 normal sight) Scare.

None that I can recall. domesticated Kangaroo-like animals callee kangas were used as draft- actually riding animals in some episodes. These were evidentally state property like Cavalry horses, and certainly not Pets in the usual sense.

Flash Gordon was a thirties astronaut character in a strip of his own which-with a revival of interest in spacely topics- powered on another stage or so in the fifties. It was also a radio show. Flash, the lead, Dale, his female companion and the Russian scientist ( future tense here) Dr. Zarkhov, good to have a Russian as a good guy- rare indeed in the fifties- but the stories dated much earlier. Flash Gordon was never a regular character in DC comics- mainly in movie, radio and newspaper comic strips, he was drawn by the artist Alex Raymond, who was also credited with Prince Valiant.

The Earth-2 Wonder Woman married Steve Trevor and they had a daughter, Lyta, who became Fury.

Let us go back to the days of an Historical Wonder Woman, Catherine the Great! In Catherine"s lengthy reign ( 32 Years) She formally adopted Red and Gold as the official Russian colors- Power and Blood, power and beauty, etc.This has been retained even in the KGB Badge ( which indirectly she founded with the help of Major Potemkin, her live-in Lover at the Kremlin) She once got him a present of a tame squirrel- maybe a tie in with acorns and Oak Leaves- Major"s badge of office!) anyhow there is the Royal Red and Gold and we remember the fact she is a Princess. The stars on her lower quarters ( panties) are an obvious reference to the Stars and Stripes without being Flag-disrespectful The Red Star on her Crown seems borrowed from the Russians, but no Mallet and Scythe underneath so it is not the Communist order of the Red Star. and so on we go. the Platinum-alloy bracelets are also a badge of rank- did you ever think this was the forerunner of modern Campaign Ribbons? well Herc and them had to show who was Boss, right- and Bracelets did the job.Anything else is conjecture. the star-spangled pants obviously a USA touch.
