This is tricky and takes a while to master but when playing the oboe properly it can be accomplished. Practice by blowing out (without the oboe) and slowly bring in, in breaths.Try and get the breaths close together.Keep practising until you are satisfied and are able to blow the reed in the same way.Oh, try practising with a medium-soft reed.

Im sorry but you cant clean reeds :( you will just have to buynew reeds just like any instrument that has reeds you have to buy new ones EX: a clarinet has to have a reed if it breaks or you just need a new one because it's old or something , you just have to buy a new one!!;)
