Irishman Jack Donahue began his life of crime stealing horses. Instead of hanging he was sent to Australia and forced into labor chained to other prisoners. Many of these convicts escaped and came to be known as bushrangers since they lived and somehow survived in Australia's outback country. Donahue was never hanged as intented, but was finally killed in a shootout with lawmen.
