I heard about 50% is owned by foreign entities (not Korean).....mainly US shareholders such as US companies, hedge funds, etc. I don't know the exact companies though...So it's not a 100% Korean company. The same can be said about Samsong.

As for Japan, Ford used to own about 30% of Mazda but reduced it to 3% in 2008 when the US Stock Market crashed. Nissan is under Renault which owns about 44% of Nissan stocks.
