George Eastman (1854-1932) was an inventor, corporate leader, and philanthropist. He invented a practical roll form of photographic film in 1884, and founded the Eastman Kodak company. He popularized Photography with early hand-held box cameras. His company controlled the vast majority of the US photographic film industry for most of the 20th century.

In the development of the cinema, he is often credited alongside Thomas Edison, the Lumiere brothers, Leon Bouly, and George Melies. He invented "roll film" paving the way for others to invent motion pictures.
