Contact a reputable service provider and get DSL or cable service if you can. These companies will have representatives that will help you connect with as little trouble as possible. They will also supply you with any hardware you might need. Most service providers make it easy to connect with either software installation disks or equipment and/or websites that do a lot of it for you. There is no need to go through the trouble of configuring it yourself unless you are "borrowing" or "stealing" the service. Have fun, Peggy.
