There are currently (year 2013) 31 countries having nuclear power reactors. The rest are not having nuclear power.
Several countries utilize nuclear power more than the US, including France, which relies heavily on nuclear energy for electricity generation. Countries such as China and Russia also have significant nuclear power programs. However, there are also countries that utilize nuclear power less than the US, such as Germany and Japan, which have reduced their reliance on nuclear energy in recent years.
The same reason as the other countries that have nuclear power plans. Firstly to show off power. The other reason : Fear. Not even for energy generation, nuclear capability is justified due to the high risk that nuclear power plants represent.
The countries that produce the most nuclear power are the United States, France, and China. These countries have a high number of nuclear reactors and significant investments in nuclear power infrastructure.

Countries that get the majority of their power from nuclear energy include France, which has one of the highest proportions of nuclear power in its energy mix, as well as countries like Slovakia, Hungary, and Ukraine. These countries rely significantly on nuclear energy to meet their electricity needs.

Why should India be any different to other countries?
Because it is there.
The United States uses more nuclear power than any other country, around 20 percent of the power in the United States is created via nuclear power. Other countries that use nuclear power include France, Russia, and Japan. These countries all create more energy via nuclear power percentage wise, however none create nearly as many total Kilowatt hours as the United States.
The countries known to have nuclear weapons are: United States Russia United Kingdom France China India Pakistan North Korea Israel Germany, Italy, Japan and South Africa have the capability of building nuclear weapons but have not done so. Canada once had nuclear weapons, but has dismantled its weapons and permanetly deacitvated its nuclear weapons program. So far it is the only country to do so.
