You should dial the *67 code first, not only before the number you are calling, but also before any other special codes. For example, to both block your caller ID and cancel call waiting (*70), you should dial *67 and the *70, not vice-versa.
If you are using a rotary or pulse telephone, you can substitute 11 for the star key, so 1167 is equivalent to *67.
These codes are for use in North America (USA, Canada, etc.); other countries use different codes for these purposes.
Normally you dial * then 6 then 7. If you are using a rotary phone, you can dial 1167 instead of *67.
