If you're referring to a "stack", the pipe that protrudes from the roof of the structure, then yes. All indoor Plumbing; sink drains, bath and shower drains, toilets, etc. require a stack. The stack pipe has nothing to do with eliminating smells. It's necessary to provide a vent for the closed system. Without the vent, waste water will not flow properly to the sewer/septic. It's like holding your finger on top of a straw. The fluid won't drain out of the straw as long as your finger is there. Most building codes around the country require vent stacks on residential plumbing systems.

Why does toilet over flows when doing laundry?

The laundry waste pipe is fitted to the main drain near the toilet and the main pipe down the line past toilet is partly plugged, forcing the laundry waste up the toilet waste tube. You need to auger the pipe from toilet to outside. If all the piping is in ground you will have to remove toilet from floor to do this properly.

How can I securely attach a toilet to the floor?

To securely attach a toilet to the floor, you will need to use a wax ring and bolts. First, place the wax ring on the flange on the floor. Then, carefully lower the toilet onto the wax ring, making sure the bolts line up with the holes in the base of the toilet. Finally, tighten the nuts onto the bolts to secure the toilet in place. Be sure not to overtighten to avoid damaging the toilet or the flange.

How high does the toilet overflow pipe need to be?

Kits are available to make sure the toilet flange is level with the new floor. These kits are adjustable because of the differences in thickness of flooring and material, any subflooring laid down, grout, infloor heating etc. . Ideally, you want to seat the toilet on the wax gasket, and attach the mounting bolts, and have the toilet flat on the finished floor. These kits are easy to find and use.

How come your floor is wet from a low water level toilet bowl?

It sounds like a faulty seal, you may need to pull the toilet off the ground and change the seal, they are inexpensive and you can find them anywhere like Home Depot or maybe a place like Walmart. If the seal is broken or not in properly, water will leak from the bottom of the toilet.

One of the toilet bolts on floor broke off how do you fix?

This will involve removal of the toilet from the floor. You will need a new wax seal kit which comes with new bolts. The bolts are actually attached to the top of the receptacle ring in the floor. They just slide out.

Why after replacing the wax seal is there a water leak between the toilet and floor when you turn the water on even before you flush?

If it's leaking between the toilet and the floor, you put the wax ring in wrong. If it's leaking between the toilet and the tank, you need to replace the gasket.

How can I remove a toilet flange effectively?

To remove a toilet flange effectively, you will need to first turn off the water supply to the toilet and disconnect it from the floor. Then, use a wrench to loosen and remove the bolts securing the flange to the floor. Finally, carefully lift the flange out of the floor and clean the area before installing a new flange.

Toilet wont work on floor drain?

Probably not. There is no vent for that drain, it did not need one for a floor drain. A toilet is trying to push against the air pressure in the drain.Normally a decent plumber will install a floor drain with in 15 feet of a vented line or will vent the FD in case irt exceeds the 15 ft ruleA Floor drain can be as small as 2" diameter and thus it is undersized for a toilet and a floor drain alread has a trap and a toilet would thus be drouble trapped

What would cause leaking at the front of the base of a toilet?

You probably need to replace the wax ring and possibly tighten the two bolts that hold the toilet to the floor.

How can I fix a toilet seal that leaks?

To fix a leaking toilet seal, you will need to replace the wax ring that seals the connection between the toilet and the floor. This involves removing the toilet, cleaning the area, and installing a new wax ring before reattaching the toilet.

What if a toilet flange will not fit in the drain pipe?

The easiest solution would be to move the toilet so that it lines up with the waste pipe.
