actuallly your question is not a -stable- question i mean i read your question over and over and all i could think of is "does cell phone battery effect text messages?" well the answer to that would be yes, because if you had no battery you can't send text messages. so it's kinda a obvious answer.
It could be the Sprint customer has shut off the ability to receive text messages.
The cell phone has changed since the past, making it smaller, wireless, they run on their own battery, the coverage is widely spread out, and you can send and receive text messages.
You should, when you turn your cell phone back on it should inform you that you missed a text, but I could be wrong.
