okay, here's how it goes, i did this 3 days ago.
first you need to remove the butt part of the seat.
in order to do that you must look under the front rim of the seat for a couple of black pull tabs. pull on the tabs gently and lift the butt seat thing and it will pop up, but make sure that you don't press down on it again or it will lock back into place.
next you will have to remove the butt seat from the car, and under it you will find like 4 bolts, two are attached to the seat belt holders and the other two are kinda hidden by the bottom part of the fabric, remove those, and you might need to beat up the seat belt holder a little to get it to move.
after removing the bolts you need to lift that back seat off, to do this you need to lift up and out wiggling it the whole time, make sure you don't try too hard as you don't want to break anything.
after you get that off there are two black tabs that are holding that carpeted rear deck thing down. use a flathead (in my case two flathead) screwdrivers to pry them out, and then you're gonna need to wiggle that deck out also.
the speakers are head in by 4 bolts each and are decently hard to get to if you don't unlatch the two placements from inside the trunk.
good luck!
You can't - the speaker covers are not meant to be removed from the package tray (you'll understand when you see the under side of it). Drop the back seats down, pull out the 4 plastic push-in "screws", and pull the whole tray out. You'll have to bend it a little.
I just changed the speakers in my 01 about a month ago. The speaker covers are mounted "TO" the rear deck. You have to remove the rear deck to change the speakers out. I left the factory covers on, because I wasn't sure I could mount the aftermarket ones back and look good. I believe they were held on with a washer and pop rivot type of setup. Hope this helps
When you open the trunk you should be able to see up underneath the speakers. There should be 2 gold Phillips screws that hold each speaker cover. unscrew these and remove the covers. then remove the four hexagonal screws that hold down each speaker. last, unplugged the grey connectors from each speaker and lift out.

Next, carefully remove the rear speaker covers and disconnect the old speakers from their wiring. Install the new speakers by connecting the wires and securing them in place, then replace the speaker covers and reattach the rear seat. Ensure everything is securely fastened before testing the new speakers.
You do not need to remove the door panel to change your speakers. Remove the speaker cover, by prying outward on the speaker cover retaining clips. Remove the speaker retaining screws. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the speaker.

remove the screws usually behind the door handle, also remove the cover tabs on the door grab on the panel and then remove the speaker grill and remove the three or four screws around the speaker not the ones holding the speaker in place.
