You have to have so called "data cable" which is usually a USB type. You can check for the appropriate cable online. You have to have computer drivers which are compatible with your cell phone (usually included with the cable). You will have to check if your phone has the ability to do so, and what software or aps are required as this may differ from phone to phone, and even by cellular provider.
Some new smartphones with WiFi radios can share their GSM/EDGE/EV-DO/WiMax/LTE internet connection via a wireless WiFi connection with your computer. Most cellular providers in the United States require that you pay extra for this ability, and you should check with your carrier. You can activate this capability without paying, but it will generally require that you "root" your phone, thus invalidating any warranty you may have and should only be done if you know what you're doing.

∙ 13y agoSome cell phones can be hooked to the USB port of a laptop by the sync cable. That will allow you to sync data, such as Contacts.
Some phones that can be hooked up that way can be used as a wireless modem, enabling you to get internet access. You would have to have internet access on your phone in order to get internet on your phone.

You can use CMD to create virtual network on Windows 7/8.1/10 computer. Aother way is using WiFi program such as OSToto Hotspot. Finally, you must be sure that your computer has wireless network card. If not, you need to buy a USB wireless network device!
