Go to Moen's website and download the directions.
If this happens all the time with no other water being used, then you need to install a shower valve that is pressure balanced. Moen makes Posi-Temp and Delta makes the Monitor.
Install a Posi-Temp faucet.
For Moen, there is a part called a "posi temp" and this can be replaced to manage the hot water. You may need a specialized tool called a puller. There is an amusing You Tube with Steven Lavmoniere that shows the process to do this.Maybe. If it is a Moen or other type of single handle shower valve, try changing the cartridge first. If this doesn't work, you need a new shower valve.ANS2 - Shower valves of all types will clog up with any bits of sediment or rust in the system. This is very common. Take the valve apart and check carefully inside.
i believe there are 2 types of single-arm shower controls ... 1 you pull out and turn ... the other, you just turn -- this one is called "posi-temp" first, make sure that the handle points directly down or you will not get any hot water! second, remove the handle ... there should be a white piece of plastic that can be pulled out easily ... for the hottest setting, it points up to 12 o'clock ... i don't believe you can make it higher than at this setting ... not sure, but each cog (tooth) that you turn it clockwise before putting back will cool it 2-3 degrees when done, make sure the handle points directly down before connecting the handle
Take it to a mechanic
If you don't have a temp. light, or temp gauge, then just install one.

it is not recomended, because of the ever changing temp in a bathroom.
No specific temp, but you want the bearing and the race(s) to be at the same temp, especially if pressed in, or very close (read "import" in the U.S.) tolerances.
