Searching for one's own name on Google is one of the Pillars Of Stuff People Do On The internet - along with "updating MySpace accounts" and "answering questions on WikiAnswers". Generally, it should be pretty safe - although it is possible for people to track Internet happenings, it's unlikely that they'll make a connection between someone searching for, say, "John Smith", and John Smith himself. It may be a good idea to not click on "Images", though. ;)
