File and folder sharing enhances collaboration by allowing multiple users to access and edit documents simultaneously, improving productivity and communication. It facilitates easy distribution of resources, ensuring that everyone has the most current version of files without the need for email attachments. Additionally, sharing can streamline workflows and reduce the risk of data loss by centralizing storage in a secure location. Finally, it fosters teamwork by enabling users to contribute and provide feedback in real time.
I am not aware of any sharing access for individual Excel files (if someone reading this knows how to do this with Windows, please improve the answer). File sharing permissions are for giving access to folders, not individual files. If you are not able to change the sharing permissions on the folder in which you have the Excel file stored, move the file to a folder or drive without sharing permissions.
