What can Google Chrome do that the Google website cannot do?

They serve different functions. Google Chrome is a web browser, that was developed as a separate project by Google, to browse the internet. Google is a search engine, that allows you to search the Internet for websites, and offers various services.

Being a browser it can open your local HTML/image/flash files which obviously the Google search engine or site cannot. Google Chrome is way cool and please get it. It is not bad.

Google Chrome comes in either a browser or an OS. What it can do over, say a Google search page is that it has all the features that you would find on other leading browsers. What it also has is that it allows for bookmark, search, setting, and history synchronization (if you're signed into a Google account), so it allows you to look at search results in one device (ex: a computer), then you can continue on at another device (ex: smartphone). It also allows for adding desktop apps and extensions which allow for things such as offline use, productivity tools, or games. Chrome OS goes one step further as the browser becomes integrated into the OS. Chromebooks utilize this OS.
