How long did it take to build a square keep castle?

It took at least 8 years. However before them the motte an bailey castles were the ones u used to live in however they were made from wood and fire was a great weakness so william the conquror decided to use stone. that is how stone keep catsles were started

it depends on how many workers were building at a time and how high you wanted the castles to be. for a small castle it would have took 10-20 years however, a big/ large castle would take 30-45 years
