Rainforests can be used to produce a great variety of useful products.
Some of the products may be food products, such as tropical fruits, e.g. papaya, or nuts, e.g. Brazil nut. Cacao, a key ingredient in chocolate, is a common product from the rainforest. Some spices grow well in the rainforest, e.g. cinnamon and vanilla beans. Chicle is a resin which comes from the rainforest; it is used in Chewing Gum.
The plants in a rainforest have untapped healing properties. While many medicines are already obtained from plant parts, there are so many more that we just don't know about. For example, in Australia, scientists have discovered cancer-curing properties of plants in the tropical rainforests in the far north of the country. These have been used to cure cancers in some domestic animals, and researchers are now looking at whether these plants can be used to cure cancers in people.
Latex is another product. It is used in chewing gum, as well as rubber products such as car tyres. the trees in a au forest are also useful for their wood. Minerals, common throughout the world, are no less common in rainforests, which can yield large amounts of iron, manganese and other minerals and metals. For the most part, there is little room or a population to produce products in rainforest areas. What rain forests can do is produce products for manufacturing away from the rain forests. The primary example would be timber into lumber from cutting down trees in such areas.
