The fertile crescent
Mesopotamia is a historical region located in Western Asia, situated between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
The Tigris and Euphrates. The Tigris is the northern river and the Euphrates is the southern river.
The Middle Eastern region called the Fertile Crescent arches across the northern part of the Syrian Desert and runs from the Nile Valley to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
The Euphrates and Tigris river system give Mesopotamia its name- it means "the land between two rivers".
In Mesopotamia = "the middle earth" = the fertile region situated in Asia between the rivers Tigris and Euphrates.
The ancient region between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers (now in present-day Iraq). It comes from the Greek words meaning "between the rivers."
Mesopotamia means "land between the two RIVERS" not "land between the two SEAS". The two rivers that Mesopotamia sits between are the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. However, the region of Mesopotamia sits between the Mediterranean Sea, the Persian Gulf, the Black, and the Caspian Sea (though does not occupy all of the land in that area).
Much of Biblical history took place in Mesopotamia, the region between the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers.
Mesopotamia translates to "land between two rivers" in Greek, referring to the region between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers where one of the earliest civilizations developed.
In the Mesopotamian region, largely in the region where the Tigris and Euphrates rivers intersect.
