The Atlantic will go on getting wider and wider, and will create a super ocean, but this will take many millions of years to happen.

Lets look at some of the figures.

The Mid Atlantic Ridge is widening the Atlantic Ocean by 0.4 to 4 inches (1 to 10 cms) a year. The average is about 1 inch (2.5 cm) a year.

Taking the fastest speed, 4 inches (10 cm), it will take over 15,000 years to widen one mile.

Multiply that by the width of the Pacific Ocean, 11,000 miles (17,700 km) at its widest point, and you are looking at 165,000,000 years for the Pacific Ocean to disappear.

Don't forget that I used the fastest speed of widening, if you use the average speed, you will have to multiply 165 million by 4.
