Villahermosa is the capital of the Mexican state of Tabasco and means beautiful village. It is located nearly exactly in the middle between Cancun and Mexico City.

Rich in history and culture, this city is home to museums like the Regional Museum of Anthropology Carlos Pellicer and the Tabasco History Museum. The Plaza de Armas, or Main Square, overlooks the Grijalva River where visitors can admire the ferry boats from a tall viewing tower or pedestrian bridge. Locals gather here and enjoy music and vendors selling delectable treats.

The city’s cathedral has been under construction since 1963 but its visibly stunning towers can be seen from almost every point in the city. There is also the Parque Tabasco that is home the city’s main festival each year. It is also infrastructurally the most important park in the country.

Known for its industrial contributions to the state and rich history, Villahermosa is an important part of Mexico’s history and future.
