The Stratosphere Las Vegas is an iconic tower, hotel, and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada. Stratosphere Tower[1] offers visitors panoramic views of The Strip and surrounding mountains from both indoor and outdoor observation decks.

It is owned by Whitehall Street Real Estate Funds, an affiliate of Goldman, Sachs & Co[[2]] who purchased American Casino & Entertainment Properties which includes the Stratosphere along with three other properties (Arizona Charlie's Decatur and Arizona Charlie's Boulder in Las Vegas and the Aquarius Casino Resort in Laughlin, NV). The sale closed on 21 February 2008 for $1.3 billion. The property's signature attraction is the 1,149 feet (350 m) Stratosphere Tower, the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States[1] and the second tallest in the Western Hemisphere, surpassed only by the CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario. The hotel is a separate building with 24 stories, 2,427 rooms and an 80,000 square feet (7,400 m2) casino.

Located on the northern end of the Strip, this hotel casino is within 2 miles of downtown Freemont Street, the Las Vegas Convention Center, Madame Tussauds, and Fashion Show Mall and in close proximity to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Valley of Fire and Mt. Charleston, as well as numerous golf courses. the Stratosphere is the northernmost of the major Strip casinos and the only one actually in the City of Las Vegas, as the rest of the Strip south of Sahara Avenue is in the unincorporated townships of Paradise and Winchester.

Following the Stratosphere's completion in 1996, low room prices and unique offerings ensured its success. Many tourists consider its location to be an advantage, since it is equidistant between highly popular strip casinos and the downtown area (which includes the Fremont Street Experience).
